Military bros (or non), what say you

Bullshit, we win wars and do the jobs that the Armee cannot and won't do. I seem to remember that the Army overstretched its supply lines during the opening of the war in Iraq, and who saved their bacon? The Marines, while we simultaneously fought our entire way up the east side of Iraq. Does the Army have an airforce? How about a navy? The Marines do.

Now with that said, it is true the Marines and Army have different jobs to perform. The Marines are the nuclear weapons of the military and the surgeons knife. The army is force that occupies and provides long term support to the ground effort.

All interservice rivalry apart, I believe in all of our services and have worked with them all. I may pick on the other services, but in the end they are my brothers and sisters too and I am proud of the job they do for shit wages, for an idea that is called freedom.

During Iraqi Freedom the USMC were supplied with bullets, fuel, and spare parts by the U.S. Army...read the AAR's. As far as air support goes the U.S Army can deliver more ordnance on target via gunships than the Marine Corps...At the end of the day you're Navy and 100% dependent on the Navy which failed to provide you proper logistics during Iraqi Freedom...We don't need a Navy because I can be anywhere in the world before the marines even if they have a ship in the region...thanks to a C-130 and air refueling.

I'm not talking about the Navy Navy, I am talking about our very own Navy, it doesn't belong to the Navy it belongs to the Marines, and well, I beg to differ on the ordinance on target. Don't even get me started with that piece of shit called an Apache. I am an engineer and have had to deal with its design. I remember the Apaches calling the Marines in in Afghanistan to come save their asses.

And I did read up. I was in during the first Iraqi deal.

And no you can't be any where in the world before us because we are already there. We have 7 MEU's 1 for each the seven seas we can have a battalion or more any where in the world before the Army. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_Expeditionary_Unit

We have FA 18, AV8 Harrier, the JSF, Cobra attack helicopter, the same artillery, same tanks, and we can still perform amphibious assaults in our sleep? I am sure the Army has amphibious capabilities?

Anyway, lets' call the truce and go have some beer and drink to when life was simple and killing the enemy was easy.

When I was on active duty we could deliver an ARTILLERY REGIMENT anywhere in the world within 72 hours...That's just support for the infantry...We were the largest fully air deployable artillery unit in the world.

Who signed your check and how was your appropriation funded....but for the Navy the USMC wouldn't exist. Since you're an engineer you should be able to calculate the velocity of an aircraft Vs. a ship....The airborne can be anywhere in the world within 72 hours...can the Marines land on Antarctica within 72 hours?

LOL @ Cobra > Apache...that's some old ass Vietnam shit...the AH-64 is one of the best VTOL's in the world. Once again, without the Navy the Marine Corps doesn't exist because they give you a budget...Let me know when there is a "Department of the Marines" that interacts with the Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force...It must be embarrassing that the Air Force has a department and the USMC doesn't.

Watched a great movie last night. soldier girls on hulu.com Shows basic training back in 1980. Very cool and how recruits were so skinny & different back then. Amazing how times have changed with today's myspace generation.

I had a wrestling mentor in high school that served in the regiments and went back to train soldiers and he left in the 1990's because he felt that he couldn't in good conscience do what the Army required him to do.

Btw the apache is not a good air raft and 1z cobra has a top speed greater than the apache better avonics etc. I know cause Helped fo the engineering. Also we are not part of the navy we don't get our paychecks from them either. And we can put a battalion anywhere within 24 hours.

Plane maybe faster no doubt but without the air force, you go no where fast.

Marines all the way. Fallujah we showed the rest of the American military how it is done! The same as we always have.

Look at what has been said about Marines:

United States Marine Corps Quotes

Reagan:
Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States; 1985

Eleanor Roosevelt:
The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

Sgt USMC 1983-1991 Semper Fi, do or die Bitches.

Call sign Mongo (I think I got that when I was a deputy sheriff, but who cares, it fits)

Fuck yeah! I with you buddy 100% Marines for fucking ever! I was in 1989-1983 in the gulf war, Bosnia, and central america fucking everyone up, not to go unsaid the Army was no where to be found.Secondly, Java is full of crap about his outfit going in first in the gulf war..The British OSS went in first got intelligence within hrs where the battalions where, and geuss who went in first? Yep.. The Marines. This guy (Java) spins shit they way he wants it to be. Without the Marines there's no free world ask Thomas Jefferson..... Semper Fi...

You can be anywhere in the world before us so what! You guys get there first and get you ass handed to you. Then we take our time and get their when we feel like it then destroy everything and everyone...
Your so brilliant tell me this how come in every war the enemy was terrified of fighting the Marines head up. WW1 named Devil Dawgs because they woundn't die and were ruthless fighters. In Nam the NVA would hump 15 miles out of their way to avoid fighting the Marines they had no qualms about fighting the Army head-up that's why the Army always got over ran and had to call in napalm on their own perimiters because their soft. How come when I went in 1989 my outfit was sent straight down Central America to stop the some of the Drug Cartel movement and the spread of the commies? we squashed it in 4 months they said the Army was down there for years, and didn't do shit! In Korea they sent a million chinese across the border because they heard the Marines were in the area... As for that bull-shit your trying to peddle the airborne was first to go in Iraq during the gulf war is total lie the British OSS was and gave us cordiance and we went in first and the rest is history...

right...except for at boots on the groun the army had to come in blow up everything in its path because the marines got themseleves backed into a corner and couldnt move

in fairness...the marines method in the above mentioned instance was a good deal more finesse...while the army came in with sheer brutality/ordnance

meh...none of the branches survive w/o each other

ever watch seabees? pure awesomeness

oh and in the spirit of the original thought...above the change in training

situps are effin absurd and can cause a good deal of injuries...I always thought how they were done for pt tests was ludicrous (and I max them no prob)

there are far better ways to keep a strong core and I don't believe yoga and pilates should be discounted

however, nothing beats pushups...problem is..now drill sgts are limited on how many they can dole out at a time
doing 50 when you could barely do 15 will teach you that you can push your limits

I don't think sprints are a terrible idea but losing the long runs is a mistake...

coffee and sodas are still not allowed in basic and usually not allowed in the begining of AIT or throughout OSUT
I dont know where anyone got the idea they are...not even at "relaxin jackson" which got its nickname because its basic for most support troops...and yeup, that includes poques
