Leave it to Microsoft to put millions into such a pointless technology, thinking they're paving the way to the future of computing or something. I'm not a big Apple fan but I'll laugh if and when they pass them up if they continue on this path of pointless functionality, even though they're in on it too, albeit to a lesser degree. Why do these tech companies bother flattering themselves with this bullshit. It's waste of R&D, and I'm sick of hearing about it and reading about it being the latest and greatest like it's the holy grail of future computing.
At no point when I'm using a computer do I want to be reminded of operating a bloody U-SCAN at the grocery store. Those things are aggravating enough as it is. I also don't want to have to reach forward and point at every little thing I do and hope the action registers correctly with my blunt-tip fingers when a flick of the mouse is soooo much more effective, efficient and practical. But perhaps most importantly I also don't want my primary (read "only") viewing device to end up full of fucking fingerprints and smudges, which is a biological certainty no matter how much one washes their hands.
Even the Minority Report hand waving shit is gimmicky and a waste of time on anything smaller than a 60" screen. Maybe when Microsoft or whoever taps into virtual/nerve impulse computing (but would that even be ethical?) I'd shove my kb/mouse aside, but until then I'd love to hear what the fuck is so cool and better about touching my fucking computer screen to do shit.
