Does NORMAL weight lifting cause/accelerate hair loss?

I'm weight lifting 3 times a week, just to keep fit and put on some muscle. I do 15 sets each workout and some abs, and I do cardio straight after. I don't take whey, creatine, steroids, nothing.

Just wondering, can this cause/accelerate hair loss?

I don't heavy lift I do around 8-12 reps per set, and I don't bench or squat, I deadlift though, and do dumbbell presses and lunges etc

thanks

No, weight lifting will not accelerate hairloss.

Thanks. I ask because I went through a lot of depression/stress a couple months back and was diagnosed with Telogen Effluzium recently, and was told my hair will grow back in around 6 months. It doesn't follow the pattern of Male Pattern Baldness.

Would you say doing 8-12 reps on each exercise would be decent to gain size/strength, thanks.

You have to play with diferent excersise programs and see what your body responds best to. For me I do low rep heaviest weight I can handle usually 5 or less reps. I do all body parts this way.

So basically I shouldn't be worried about hair loss if I'm not taking steroids, creatine and I don't take any protein shakes lol. I eat healthily, workout 3 times a week and do cardio 6 times a week.

I find my body responds well to 8-12 rep sets, so I think I'll stick to that.

Creatine and protein shakes wont cause hair loss problems either bro.... you should get your hands on some whey for a post workout shake.:p

hair loss is genetic, steroids don't cause it but they will accelerate it if you are prone. If you are meant to go bald you will go bald either way.

Steroids accelerate it but does like normal weight-lifting 3 times a week accelerate it? I do cardio straight after and I don't really do heavy lifts like squats or bench press (i dumbbell press and I do deadlifts aswell).

I just want to gain some decent size and keep myself fit.

why are worried about hair so much, what do you think girls like more, a fat guy with a full head of hair, or a bald huge lean guy.

Only when i use really bad form and it gets caught in the machines :(

No, it won't cause hairloss or accelerate it.

Also, why are you lifting but not benching or squatting? That's like running track but never doing sprints in your workouts. Oh, you said dumbbell presses. They are a bench excercise, lol.

Start squatting, even if it's not heavy. It's a whole body excercise and will improve all aspects of your performance and health.

Also, I would add in just a solid whey protein product to your daily diet. It will increase the rate of muscle gain and strength significantly.

true - my dad was bald his dad was bald so am i at 29 -but chicks dig a bald guy lol

Thanks guys. I workout at home and I don't have a squat rack but I do dumbbell squats and lunges which give me a decent pump, and make me feel sore the next day. I also cycle like 150km a week so that could help maybe.

I don't really want to take Whey, but I'll carry on lifting like I have been guys, thanks and happy easter

Why don't you want to take whey?

Unless you are lactose intolerant, you are foolish not to use it bro. They make soy proteins too.

Especially with as much cycling as you do (which for optimum muscle building, you are probably doing too much) you definitely want to be using whey to counteract catabolism, keep that nitrogen balance positive and put on muscle instead of fighting to keep what you have as is.

Honestly, trying to gain mass without it is a long drawn out endeavor with minor results over a long period of time if you are not ddieting dedicated for getting huge. Unless you eat 2.5 lbs of lean meat a day, you aren't getting as much protein as you need.

Do what you want, but I would never under any circumstance tell someone to not use a whey protein supplement. Regardless of their sport. I made my sensei start using protein and he has noticed a big improvement in his martial arts abilities. He has better recovery and strength, which leads to more power and balance and an overall enhancement of his athletic and martial art discipline. Same goes for woman gymnasts, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, track, lifting, skiing, and any other type of athletics you can possibly think of.

Thanks man, I guess I'll carry on with the whey. I dunno I'm just so worried taking whey and lifting weights will boost my testosterone high and cause/accelerate hair loss :/

the helment you wear and the wind blowing on your head when cycling will cause more hairloss than taking whey and lifting weights.

NO BRO, LMAO!!!!!!!

You are being paranoid.

It has nothing to do with it. Whey protein doesn't increase testosterone. It's like thinking drinking milk will boost your testosterone. It just doesn't happen.

Increased testosterone levels do NOT cause hairloss. The conversion of T to DHT does, and your body will not increase your T levels so significantly that you get a hormone imbalance.

First of all, if your older family members are not thin or bald, you won't get that way either. It's genetic.

Secondly, yes, heavy anaerobic work (lifting weights) will promote increased testosterone and growth hormone, especially with leg training. No, it will not make you go bald or accelerate it.

Unless you start taking steroids to artificially enhance your hormone levels significantly, there's nothing you can do that will cause your hormones to go whack and make you start going bald.

kk thanks man.

My dads bald, his dads not bald.

I got my mums thick curly hair :/
She isnt bald
her dad isnt bald
my uncles on her side arnt bald
and my great grand father had a full set of hair until he died at 96

Should I carry on with Body Fortress Whey or get ON Whey? And I'm going to workout 8-12 reps on each exercise as I feel myself making good gains on that.

Just a lot of people keep telling me different stuff about this whole hair loss thing :/

Thanks man, have a nice easter (if you celebrate it)

Finish up what whey you have.

Any good whey product will work.

I'd look into needtobuildmuscle.com 's whey. They have a good price and great tasting flavors. But use what you currently have until it's gone. No need to move to something else and throw out something you can use.

It's bullshit bro. Hairloss is genetic.

Tell me how whey could possibly cause hairloss. That's almost exactly like claiming milk causes hairloss.

Also, who in the hell are you hearing this from?

When you hear stuff that causes you to instantly question the veracity of the statement, it's probably bullshit.
