Since she was born that way she is (I'll go with her as that is how she lives and identifies herself) intersexed, so hermaphrodite is as good a term as any (from what I understand, hermaphrodite is actually considered a somewhat perjorative term). Any combination of internal/external sex organs of both genders automatically puts a person in the intersexed category. If you look the definition up, Princeton defines a hermaphrodite as: one having both male and female sexual characteristics and organs; at birth an unambiguous assignment of male or female cannot be made.Her gonads are both male, she has a pair of testes. She's not a true herm, that would require gonads of both sexes. She's a man with female external genitalia.
Terminology aside, it's gotta suck. I imagine getting this diagnosis is bad enough, then having the news plastered all over not just the news, but frigging international news, ugh.
