What is "fun summer attire" when applied to menfolk?

I got invited to a singles summer party, mostly professionals, and am a dirtball at heart. Usually a well dressed dirtball, but whatever. Suggestions?

Summer fun attire to me is a light button down cotton v-neck with a collar.... baby blue, white, plaid (kind of Nautica or RL Polo style), or hawaiian shirt etc.... with khaki cargo shorts and sandals.

Nice white linen short sleev button up from J Crew, a pair of khaki shorts or upper scale jeans, and appropriate footwear.

Or yeah, a polo works too. + popped collar.
