For those of you who have lived/do live in DC

had an office in falls church. traffic is worse than Manhattan. you'll be taking the train.
housing is VERY expensive. potomac and georgetown are nice but expensive

i don't like cold densley populated areas so my input is colored.

So do you drive to work or is there public transportation that gets you from VA to DC?
Is biking a feasible means of transportation, or would a cyclist meet a gruesome end on the streets of DC?
What is it like in the winter there?

blue and yellow lines go into NoVa, you are fine would be using the metro. Biking isn't really legit to get around in d.c. because so many places just have too much human traffic and drivers being shady. but the metro system is awesome so you can pretty much get anywhere from anywhere in a decent amount of time.

also,
nearly all my friends who recently graduated and work in d.c. either live in Arlington, VA or the battery park area of Bethesda, MD. So those are a couple place i would definitely consider those two areas. and they all metro to work.

There are lots of bikers in the area...I guess it depends on the distance. The DC metro system extends into VA and MD. I have a metro stop two blocks from my building.

The winters I've been here have been mostly mild...a week or two of really cold weather (highs below 30) but mostly in the 30-low 40's range, a couple of snowstorms that the weathermen talk up, but end up being three inches tops - but of course they bring traffic to a complete hault.

That city scares the shit out of me, dunno why, just afraid of east coast cities... dunno why....
I think you would rock at Public Interest stuff though... it fits your personality...

I like dealing with people and going to court.
Public interest work is all I've done since I came to law school.
I just cant make myself get excited about tax law and the like.
I'd love the money, but I think I'd hate working for a big firm.

Yeah I don't really see someone who listens to Belle and Sebastian working for a huge Tax Firm...
