The right manager wants a mix of both of those and many others traits to form a team that has many strengths.
The key for the manager is for all of these different traits and peronalities to work well together as a team.
If I had to pick one or the other I would take the work ethic first and find some friendly people quickly.

Either that or forming win-win partnerships within an empowered gain-sharing atmosphere to help people foster interdependent relationships thus maximizing shareholder value and leveraging the value of the overall brand in the marketplace.

Ok, let's just go with out-of-the-box. That's my favorite antiquated l990 term.
 
work ethic trumps everything. talented folks usually wind up begging at the doorstep of the rich.

if you find someone with talent and a good work ethic, you probably won't keep them for long.
they'll probably be your competition one day lol.

i have a few of these anomalies and i treat them well.
