what? My little, "women in combat" joke? After I already said thank you and told you that I respected you and never called you names the way you did to me?

I'm sorry Shirlene.

How is your dad so old?? I am 50, youngest of a large family, and my Dad was still too young for WWII

My dad was born in 1918. I was born in 1972. He was 54 when I was born. My mom was 5 days shy of 42.

My dad died in 2009 at the age of 91.

See? It's possible. You can have another child in 4 years and live it yourself. :)

no, for this actually

the women in combat thing hasnt torqued me up since 2010 at least

For what? saying something about you taking another pot shot at me while attempting to get the last word in? That eats you up? Go ahead, get your last word in and I'll lock the thread so nobody else can say anything (except a mod I guess - but it won't be me).

Why is that bill? Because I'm not dwelling on war on a daily basis?

Shit has been happening since the dawn of time. You mean to tell me every man who has ever been in a war and doesn't come out the other side as a broken, sorrowful soul full of regret, has issues?

I didn't say it didn't change me. Hell, how could it not? I killed my first person, a full grown man who probably had a family, when I was an 18 year old kid.

But I realized that day that I could have been the one who got smeared in the dirt and never breathed again. THAT is war. Kill or be killed, it isn't a pretty thing, and it's not always glory an valor like hollywood would have you believe. Shit happens.

Then you move on and live your life.

Thank you for your service brah

I was in the USAF

I'm still traumatized about the soft serve ice cream machine breaking one hot July afternoon

I ate the bones! I ate the bones!

I think you have some serious issues bro.

I fully enjoyed watching the pink mist settle after waxing a muffucker with the .50

See this is why I still think you're full of shit. Lots of marines coming back from duty around here and they all tell people to stfu when they ask them about killing stuff. None of them talk about the shit they way you do, none of them. Not the Marines, not the SEALS, not army. Don't know any Navy or Air Force, maybe they talk like that. In any case everybody I've ever known that saw close quarters ever talked about it like you. I think you sat in a 130 and dropped 105mm on ngr's with a mouse and pad.

But if all your claims are true you have zero right calling on anybody else's issues.

Redscam, luckily for you my wife and I know people from EF in person and if it means that much to you, you can PM them and ask them about my military history.

Not everyone shits themselves at night over what they have done in their past, which leads me to my next point: you wouldn't know.

Shut your fatass, no serving mouth, because you have to sit and hear stories from people who have lived it. I don't.

Go tell your mom someone on the internet cussed at you, maybe she'll make you cupcakes to make you feel better.

nah, plenty talk just like BBT does and some do not.

The criteria for PTS doesn't include pathological lying, or narcissistic identification with tv shows/documentaries/movies/music/youtube videos.

Who's pulling your strings IIT? Not BBT

I know what PTS is. I know what it looks and feels like.

Not that I care who believes what or gives sympathy to whom. If someone is that desperate for attention who am I to say you can't throw them a bone? I really don't care either way, but BBT isn't pulling your chain.

I know lol but I don't think redscam knows what a DD214 is...

Plus I have posted those here before....

have you really?? fuck I would never do that...not that I even have mine anymore after the fire

I used to have my whole 203 file..the dental xrays came in handy once (dont ask)

Yeah but obviously I blurred the parts that could be used for identity theft and then pulled it down after my question got answered.

You can have them replaced if you go to the VA and file a request. I think it's free. I got my short form for free because when I hired in my current position they require proof of 4 yrs military or a degree, and I have both so just showed them transcripts and a short form for extra brownie points.

Cool fuckin story I know

ya I just never bothered... my college had a copy of it which got me out of some basic bio courses

It's probably nothing bro just take some tylenol PM and a little booze to wash out the taste and drive to work

Maybe you should tell me since you brought it current?

I posted about WWII, which had been brought up by SD and you. You got all offended and started slinging shit at me because you took some shit personal. You think I'm taking shots at you? I'm saying that my dad didn't think he was on some kind of righteous mission from god (mission from god implied by me by use of word "righteous"). I also said that he found nothing enjoyable about killing (that's where the glorious part came in). Was it kill or be killed? Hell yes. Always was, always is. Did he do what he had to do? Yep. Am I glad? Hell yes. Am I proud of him? For many reasons I am.

But go ahead, stay mad. Call me more names. Tell me I'm inferior because I never served. Anything else you want to throw at me, go ahead. Tell me again who's blowin up?

You did the right thing, I was the dumbass that followed family tradition and didn't listen to what my dad was telling me. I'm very proud of my father, the Japanese targeted corpsmen because they felt it would demoralize the marines. He risked his life to save others.

I had dinner with a man who had both parents incinerated in Hiroshima. Was as nice and cordial as anyone I ever met.

I realize it is not easy, but people do move on.

Japanese culture is an interesting thing. The Yamato race has a culture of stoic resilience. However, two bombs had to be dropped and bombing is very different than combat. I watched an interview with a former Japanese officer that was part of the Bataan Death march...his response,"it was war." No remorse and no regrets....the state commanded and he obeyed.

You know I have had some issues living with the things I had to do there but I came to grips with the fact that I done my job and my job saved more lives than I took and in the end thats all that matters. Killing is the job Marines do. Ive said this before and I will say it one more time for you if you think shooting people from afar is hard to live with try it up close and real personal hats where its at. Unless you have looked into the eyes of some poor soul you have sent on dont give me any shit about making lite of the situation it comes down to being a superior solider and God blesses me with the superior ability to impress my will onto others by any means necessary. I embrace the fact that at one point in my life I was a highly trained killing machine and that is why we live the way we do in this country. You need to grow up and move on its called being a man. The circle of life includes war and death. Its not pretty but it is necessary. You have the ability to be a good bro just let the shit go and move on with your life.

Thanks for posting the propaganda you were taught; During WWII the Army found that 1/3 of riflemen would fire their weapon in an engagement...it's now about 90%....Being a man is standing up for what is moral even though you will be criticized and sanctioned for doing the right thing. I'm done with the chimp shit...I used to love firing the 1908 Springfield rifle my grandfather carried in WWI, it's a licensed version of the 98 Mauser and the most accurate weapon I've ever fired. War stole my love of firearms...I maintain them out of duty.

P.S. Gun guys, don't take a chick on a shooting date unless she is already a shooter, chicks hate firearms as a rule.

So you support Hitler and the Holocaust?

Not a contradiction... Pinker wrote a book about how we're less violent these days.

Men aren't per-ordained to be murderous bastards.

Nope. Making a point that not everyone who isn't mentally ripped apart by battle has issues as you seem to think.

And yes, much less violent. Ask those people in that CO school. Or the CO theater...or the CT school...or Fort Hood...or New York...or VA Tech....or Boston....or the countless other violent killing sprees that have occurred recently.

A 20 year old middle class kid shoots 20 fucking elementary age children in the face and you make the argument that we are much less violent now. Smart move.

You're making my point...why are young males so dysfunctional; I don't have the answer.

Perhaps you're the resilient personality that can justify the morality of what you were taught with what you did.

17...I needed permission to enlist from my parents and my mother was loathe to give it...Dad just pointed out how responsible I was..it was a Shakespeare moment, "Let the boy earn his spurs because he wants to be a man." For my sins I was given the mission. :)

Yeah, I was thinking you looked too young.

Yeah, I was thinking you looked too young.

Yeah, I was too young; but dad always gave me a lot of freedom. I didn't have a curfew and he respected my work ethic. Mom always attended every athletic event and it was a very special event when I won the wrestle off and wrestled varsity as a freshman...it was embarrassing because I got my ass kicked in front of my dad. It was funny because my dad thought I was going to be pinned but I was a bridging mother fucker. My mom simply assured him that I wouldn't be pinned; she attended every wrestling event, she is still an awesome wrestling analyst.
