A Thorn for Trans-Canada - Fort Worth Weekly

Apparently they don't. Talk of universal healthcare and gun registries get's talk of secession. But a Canadian company comes to town wearing scary hawkey masks and saying "eh" after every sentence and Texans are singing long live the queen. I had to do a double take when I saw that TransCanada was able to use eminent domain to gank that lady's property. That's some real shit right there. Where all the republicans in Texas that don't let no one trample on their rights? <-----laughable.

and that lady grew up oil, so she's no hippie tree hugger.

I made it to exactly the 1st sentence of the second paragraph before I realized I couldn't give a shit about this story.

I read it. Article was off on a couple of points and as usual Redscam does not know what he is talking about.

1) Pipeline is not being built for Canadian crude
2) eminent domain is federal law
3) I agree the lady is getting screwed around. There is no reason why she should not be able to build a road across her property and they pipeline company should take care to restore the land properly. She did put herself in that situation by not negotiating her own row agreement.

“I’ve learned that our government is not there to help us — not when you’re fighting the big guys,” she said. “I think I’ll be an activist for the rest of my life so that others don’t have to go through the same thing.”
I think that the article can be summed up in the last line. It's a little extreme, but it carries the main point that the article has. It's sort of the same as the banking crisis (to a degree...not completely).

hang on a sec, per the article..."TransCanada, the giant energy firm building a pipeline from Oklahoma to the Texas coast as part of a project that would carry tar sands bitumen all the way from Canada"

sorry to have to go to 7 font on that for you there ole boy but maybe you didn't have your reading glasses on the first time you posted. I wasn't aware there were tar sands in the U.S, care to enlighten me where that is? The lady's entire objection stems from the fact that tar sands bitumen is being put across her land and if that leaks her shit is finished. I think I was reading English but I could be wrong, was that article in Canadian and I'm just reading wrong?
