Questions for all you anti-gun people?

Have you ever been in a really bad neighborhood after dark where the threat of danger is higher than that in the comfortable suburban developments you rest your head? The same neighborhood that has an addict ready to pummel you into the ground just to get drug money.

Where no matter how many gun control laws are passed about background checks, ect., ect. there are people who still have them illegally and will continue to have the illegally. The people who will endanger your life to support that drug habit, are the same ones who don't care about the laws passed by some guy on Capital Hill who most likely answered no to the above question.

I have and do every single day of my life. I'm curious as to what your answer is. [I'm not looking for a flame fest; just curious]

The rules and regualtions put in place are not just to deter "bad guys" from getting guns, they are also to ensure that people who are really mad do not have ready access to guns and ammunition. I live in Canada where the gun laws are a HELL of a lot stricter than my southern neighbours, and I don't mind the laws. They at least give the PRETENSE that someone is trying to stop guns from reaching hands that may use them to harm another person. It is rediculous to think that they will be able to control ALL guns, but if they make it at least a little bit harder than maybe a gun won't be the weapon of choice in a least a small percentage of crimes commited. This will equal at least a small amount of violence that has been curbed.

I use guns everyday at work and I have trained a LOT of people how to use firearms. In now way will I ever bash the gun laws, they are an extremely good idea. So what if you have to wait until you can open up your shiny new AR15........you'll still get it.

Guns are the root of the problem. Don't give me this bullshit about people kill people, not guns. Or this bullshit about, Oh, I like to keep 10 or 15 guns so I can blow a deer into 4 pieces in one shot. There is no practical reason for Americans to have as many guns as there are out there. Not for sport, not for self defense, not for walking down the street so you can make a drug addict's head explode.

Think about all the gun related crimes that happen. Do you really think people would kill each other if they didn't have a gun? If it weren't so easy to just press a trigger and boom? Do you think the other person would have at least a fighting chance if he weren't faced with a miniauture cannon? What if someone had to use a shovel to bash a cashier's head open, do you really think they would do that? I know I would find it a hell of a lot easier to kill a few people with a gun in my hand then it would be if I actually had to run around with a night stick and smack people to death.

And don't give me this bullshit about criminals getting guns anyway. Sure, perhaps a few people would find ways to get guns, and pay the high prices that would follow. But your average Joe, or Jim Smith the drug addict would have a very difficult time finding a gun or affording it. And if they knew how difficult it was to get a gun, they might not even bother with robbing the convenient store because its not as easy as hopping down to the gun swap and picking up a few rifles.

If anything, all we need is stronger regulations. And even gun fanatics who love blowing shit up can't meet the rest of society half way. Limit the amount of guns a person can own, limit its uses, and limit the amount of ammunition they can buy. If you want to annihalate a few deer, fine... here's a few bullets. You want to shoot some frisbies... here's a few more. What else do you want?

Until then, we'll continue to see guns lighting up the streets all over the US. They'll be killing in our neighborhoods, at our workplaces and in our schools. Do you really value your guns more than the safety of society?

As a gun friend feel like I should respond to this.
I was given my first bb gun at six and at 13 my dad made a fucked up promise I could get a 30-30. with Dad shooting a gun with me was a FUN experence we could enjoy. Ive owned guns most of my 21 year old life! Even though I dont own one now(Badass BB gun dosent count) But there is always a 22 around from a friend or a relative. Shooting is some fun shit.! JUST AS LONG YOUR NOT SHOOTING PEOPLE for the really stupid people that own guns.
You should have seen how pissed mom was when they figured they should not go back on a parnets promise.
