How much does your gym membership cost?

roy2

New member
$40/month (Alumni-rate at the university rec center.)

Features:

-Free weights, squat racks, an olympic lifting area (very cool), cardio machines, etc.
-Olympic swimming pool (that I never use), basketball/racquet ball courts (never use these either).
-Soda and candybar machines.
-Various health/exercise group courses (I'll pass on these too).
-A guy who's in everyday that asks for spots on every lift he does, which are innumberable.

Population:

Primarily college students, teachers, young professionals.

Improvements?

-Pretty much constant overcrowding can make getting open racks a pain in the ass, unless you time your workouts appropriately.
-I'd love some boxing equipment.

40$ canadian.

not quite as many features as your gym, I would really like a smith machine.. -.- .

it has chalk, which I always think is a big perk, and TV's on the treadmills are a nice touch, only two benches though, same kind of problem with over crowding, all in all not a bad place.

When I was going to a boxing/mma gym it was $60 a month, but they had a bunch of different classes and a full gym and it was really nice.
The place I am at now is $30, it has a lot of equipment, some stuff is older, but is has to floors of stuff, pretty good, never have two wait to use anything.

Mine only cost me 25 dollars a month, and all I have to do is to be there before 3pm or so. I have the early bird special, they let me stay after 3 and I talked to them about it.

At the time I go, the Population is Old People, and Stay at home moms. Sometimes younger guys come in there, who have 2nd shift jobs like me or have early 1st shift jobs at a local, small factory here. No one uses the Squat Rack, which is good I spend most of my time there. 20 or so minutes for Squats and my GP Rows, and then I use the Bench, which they have 3 of. I don't like the other two at all because how screwed up they are.

Dumb Bells go up to 125lb's, which I look forward to somehow using them one day, other then staring at them and saying "Damn." Plus they always play Siruis Radio now which is good, before they were playing Car Wash and other stuff from that Era, if it wasn't that it was Gospel. The high school kid that works there would change the CD when he got there most days which was good.

365 for the year or so. I can't deal with the monthly shit, way better for me to get it out of the way or I end up forgetting to factor it into the budget.

$99 per year cash renewals for life. Allowed to use all 5 Gold's gyms in Vegas, plus free travel passes to any other Gold's in America.

20 bucks a month for me and my wife.....tanning for both of us.can bring a friend at any time for free and can use any planet fitness in the world.

32.46 monthly for golds. Access to any golds, (I've used the one in Austin on occasion) classes, etc.

Wish they had a better oly platform and more bumpers, but it'll work until I find somewhere better.

Mine is $27.20 a month. There's not enough free weights in my opinion, only two squat racks, only two flat benches, only one incline bench..... You get the picture. They have it sectioned off with cardio machines in one spot, free weights in one, nautilus in one, and two DB sections (one with lighter DB and one with heavier). One bonus is that it's a 24 hour gym. They also have a smoothie bar at the front. It's not too bad, but I think they could make some improvements.

the gym that i lift at is free now

but my MMA training is $120/month. but i get training from the best in the world, so its well worth it

20$ per month. Lot's of freeweights and hammer strength. They don't get pissed at us dropping deads since they moved the squat/dead area into it's own little alcove. it's a little too commercial for me but it's 2mi from my place and the nearest serious pling gym is 35mi away across downtown Denver so it's about an hour drive each way.

Cheers,
Scotsman

17 dollars a month at 24 hr fitness, thats a all club membership, free day care included. Been a memeber for 11 yrs.

MMA is Mixed Martial Arts. maybe you watch Spike chanel and have seen the UFC? i pay $120 per month to train MMA

i dont currently do any cardio other than the classes.

monday 1hr submission wrestling
wed 1hr submission wrestling 1hr kickboxing (muay thai)
thurs 1hr submission wrestling 1hr kickboxing (muay thai)
friday 1hr submission wrestling
EO sunday 1hr kickboxing 1.5hrs submission wrestling .5hrs sparring

plus weight training on wed, thurs and friday

any day that there is two or more things listed, I do them back to back. so wednesday/thursday right after submission wrestling i go straight into kickboxing. I might start picking up another wrestling and kickboxing class thursday morning in addtion to the night classes. the classes themselves are pretty grueling cardio wise.

we call it submission wrestling, instead of BJJ, because we train w/o the gi

Like Landmark is free if you're training at the Lions Den? It's $100/month there as far as I know.....?

24 hour fitness is $20/month for me here. And there is a new Golds opening in June or July around the corner from work that I want to check out... :)

awesome bro, how do you like muay thai, I was thinking of getting into it, there is a really good trainer in the city here, also ninjitsu.

not sure what you mean by Landmark. the gym I lift at, and the one I train MMA for are owned by two different people that have nothing to do with each other. i've just gotten in good with the owner of the gym that I lift at, and he doesn't charge me any more

its a lot of fun. you do most of your striking against pads and bags, so don't think you will go right in be spar with people. the idea is to get you comfortable with throwing combinations, through the use of pads and the heavy bag.

do you think my neck will be a factor in sparring? I have fuesed discs in my neck, so instead of having the regular 7.. I have 4, because 6 of them fused into three, it's not very mobile.

I haven't had any major problems with it, though the neurosurgeon said I couldn't play football because of the falling on my head and everything with the potential of neck snapping.. etc etc.

is there anything I have to worry about in training in muay thai, also thinking about ninjitsu, just curious as to what your opinion on this matter would be.

I assume it would be fine. =)

i'm not a doctor, so I really couldn't tell ya. best bet would be to talk to your doc. about it, and see what his opinion is.

probably the best bet eh, but I just meant as far as the training goes do you end up having your neck bent in alot of wierd places alot?

FREE! They got a gym where I work, used to have to fork out £50 per month! Only downside is the DBs only go up to 25kg and there is only one squat rack.

$10 a mont with unlimited tanning, bring a friend whenever for free and 1 hydro massage a month and can go to any of their locations.
