resting between sets

I am a newbie to weight training but used to lift a lot when i was younger. I've never really gave it much thought but lifting on my own and not flowing with other people around me i'm curious how long you should be taking between sets? do you like time it ? or do you just judge by how your muscles feel?
 
it really depends man, i always mix it up.. back when i lifted heavy like 2-3 rep sets i would take time between sets. i would look up at the clock and wait like 4 minutes but then speed up my workouts with higher reps

now i do it much faster. going for the healthy thing
 
Depends on what your going for if its heavy sets im between 1-3min if its cardio high volume lighter weight more reps 30 seconds between sets is what I do.
