Incline Barbell Bench Press. To touch your chest or not to touch it?

My friend and I were debating this.

Personally I feel on flat/decline the bar must touch your chest, however, I don't feel the same about incline.

I feel stopping about 3 inches short of touching your chest is best.

What do you all think?
 
i gotta say i dont touch on inclines, it just doesnt feel natural to me on the incline
 
Delvier's Strength Training Anatomy says to kiss the colar area; my flat bench just kisses my nipple line.
