Opeth - My Arms Your Hearse

Hell of a choice. I absolutely love the acoustic outro in the song "When." Brilliant.

Stratovarius - Elements Pt. 1, Elements Pt. 2

Let me know how those are man. I've only heard "I Walk to my Own Song" off Part 2, and I really like it.

Opeth - Lamentations(DVD) Live at Shephard's Bush Empire 2003

First half is the lighter/accoustic stuff - excellent
Actually the first 10 songs are of this nature.

The last 4 are heavier. Could have been more for my taste, but I like the heavy shit.

There is also a section about the recording of Deliverance and Damnation.

I just downloaded 4 Opeth albums from Emusic.com

good stuff.

Let us know how you like them.

Great band, however their style is very drawn out, so many people don't get into them. They're not the type of band to make a 3-4 minute song for the radio.

A lighter alternative to Opeth, I think, is Katatonia's newer stuff. Their older stuff has the gutturals, if that's your cup of tea.

BTW, I'm bumping my Manowar thread for all you so-called metalheads to post on.

Yes. I have listened to all of it now and while I am impressed, many of the sogns are way long. It's cool because it has more of that movie sountrack/ epic feel to it, but some of the songs don't really connect IMO. I think that a few could have been cut and arranged better. So, that it flows better. Not all the songs are like that, but a few. I dunno, just my thoughts. But I do like them a lot. Very cool and fairly unique.

I just bought Iced Earth "The Glorious Burden"

Is their "sound" in this album represenative of all their other albums?

God, no!
(Heh heh, sorry, I hate their new singer)

From Zero and Powerslave got some good tastes.

I honestly hope no one likes any of the new Cradle or Dimmu stuff, they are horrible.

Dimmu Borgir are amazing musicians. You should listen to their latest album a few times. Just awsome music.

And Zero and Powerslave the maiden fan(like myself), you have great taste in music, I have all the albums you talk about here, great stuff.

OK

so if I was to give these guys another chance, what is a kick ass album you'd recommend (if this album also sucks I will place Iced Earth on my "sucks" list).

thanks
