Your - denotes ownership, not an acceptable method of contracting 'you' and 'are'

Acceptable in sentences like: "Your lack of literacy makes my eyeballs spontaneously liquify and dribble down my cheeks"

You're - the proper contraction of the words 'you' and 'are,' in the "You are" sequence. This is the proper word to use in such sentences as:

"You're an illiterate asshole."

Thanks.

I HAVE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD THIS FOR YEARS. NOONE SEEMS TO LISTEN. I EVEN POSTED THIS EXACT THREAD A FEW TIMES.

NOONE SEEMS TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "THEN" AND "THAN" EITHER.

Amen brother. I can't stress the importance of this post enough. It's grammatical errors like this that led to the creation of the atomic bomb and the ultimate decline of humanity....I don't know.

Common mistake is also to mix their, theirs, there, there's. Also you'll see a lot of misspelled words in Elitefitness, like protien (it's protein).

Also it's "should have", NOT "should of".

Could you please elaborate on the differences between they're, there, and their while you're at it.

"Their" denotes possession; "Their kitties are pretty."

"They're" is a contraction of "they" and "are"; "They're a mean bunch of kitties = They are a mean bunch of kitties."

While we're all being knit-picking bastard motherfuckers, let's continue this spread of grammar knowledge.

How about the difference between "its" and "it's"...

Its - possesive of "it"
Your dog licks its fat balls.

It's - contraction of "it is"
It's my inability to lick my own balls that keeps me awake at night.

A mistake I make even

Who's - who is

Whose "Whose cock is that?"

That one irks me as well. Another one is these peoples' inability to differentiate between "lose" and "loose."

lose (the one with the soft 's' sound): "I will never lose at anything."

loose (harsh 's' sound): "Predictably, I am using the term, "loose vagina" to illustrate an example of "loose."
