THE ONE I LIKE IS THEN AND THAN.

I DO THIS "THEN" I DO THAT (DENOTES CHRONOLOGY).
I WOULD RATHER DO THIS THAN DO THAT (DENOTES PREFERENCE)

I've posted on this like 5 times Frackal, "you're" a little late.

Also, the southern colloquial contraction for "you all" is spelled y'all - not ya'll. I've corrected people on that one at least 10 times, including some southerners.

Hey people, this is the internet not "your" third grade english class. You are talking to people that you have no idea who you are or who they are. So who cares how you spell anything. I mean what is going to happen if you spell it wrong you get a "F" in internet jibberish talk or what?

Btw I am going to start a thread about words that I think should be in the dictionary.

You see all sorts of creative uses of English on here.

As someone who speaks standard English I find the American dialect rather curious too.

I love they way Americans say "mis'il" instead of "missile".

"Write me" instead of "write to me".

"nooz" instead of "news".

"Coming up Saturday" instead of "coming up on saturday".

"rowt" instead of "route".

"lewtenant" instead of lieutenant.

"Gas" instead of "petrol".

"thourow" instead of "thorough".

It is also extremely common for Americans to pronounce everything with "sch" in it. Most Americans do this to some extent.

For example: "Thatsch world newsch tonight, i'm Dan Rather. Schee you next schaturday".

Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, George Bush - they all do this, opps I mean "thisch".

Just because Dan Rather says it doesn't make it extremely common. In fact, he's one of the only people I know of that speaks in that manner.
