You know what the best scene in that whole movie is (besides the chic squattin on the pot when Liddel walks in)? When Jesse tells Bob to come sit by him, and tells the story of how the robbery will go down..... and they all have a good laugh and then his smile just disappears and he slams the door behind him. Damn he fucked with their heads good there.

Yes, I agree with this. By that point in the movie, they are just almost in tears every time he comes in the room and fucks with them.

Do you think it was accurate, ie that the real JJ knew what was going down, so he figured at that point he might as well test the Ford Bros.' merit, giving them one last chance to settle things before they went out on the road, where he would've surely finished them off himself?

I think he knew things were coming to an end in general, and was tired. His gang was gone, he probably knew there was no one left he could trust.

The wiki link for his bio made it sound like he was oblivious to any conspiring against him.
Think about it though....why would you take your guns off, and then go over and dust a picture (which is what supposedly actually happened) when your mind was on much bigger fish to fry?

This is how I interpreted it. It was the end of the line for him and he knew it. Listen to the way the narrator describes JJ in the beginning of the movie. Towards the end he doesn't look/act like that much anymore. Not many public appearances and long lunches, doesn't look so young and fresh anymore.

This movie's much better the second viewing imo.
