At 47, I'm ready to see where I can go at this age. My schedule finaly permits the time to get into shape again. When I was in my 30's, I was in the gym 4-5X's a week and had adequate knowledge of nutrition, suppliments and had limited exposure to juice. It came from the guy's in the gym or a couple of times I went across to Mexico and got it myself.
Now, before I get my balls busted, like I have seen some of yall do to new guys, I hope to get accustomed to the protocol here and I assure you, I am new here, but not to the gym. I feel as though I have some knowledge as to which way to go, but I need to know a few other things that have changed due to the "cyber world".
To get to know some of yall who post regularly, I'm going to throw a softball question, so I can see who wants to help me in my endeavor and who is just here to bully the new guy. Here goes...
I see all these books offered, are they necessary or can I depend on some of yall to give me the info that I need, i.e. cycles for older guys, etc.? OK, how's that.

welcome to EF bro...

You're 47, have you considered HRT/TRT? you can have legal, doctor prescribed steroids.

Some people will help, some wont. Some books will help, some wont. The biggest tool you have is your brain... read, reasearch, read some more, then ask questions. As long as you take the first few steps yourself, and try to find out as much as you can, before asking a well informed question, most of the good bro's on this board will be glad to help you out.

First, you should read all the stickies, that will help. And tell us a little about your self, stats and goals.. all we know is that your 47, and you used to be in better shape then you are now ;)

thanks guys, I am still learning to navigate this dang site! I just read Mr. X's post for newbies, guess I should have done what yall are suggesting now and read on down the threads, horse before cart, you know. I have to laugh at myself, so typical.
I was looking for the abbr HRT/TRT, they weren't in the "slang glossary" from Mr. X, so I don't know what they are. LOL
But if I could add the following, per Mr. X, I am 5' 10", 215 lbs, I'm guessing that my % of BF is 15-20%. I'm heavier than I have ever been before starting any cycles. I was always under wieght, looking to try and get bigger. I am familiar with the "gear" (I'm learning :-) deca, sust, enth and combos of each. Being everything as it is, I am looking to keep what I have and lose the extra lbs. Imagine that! I am staring to get my diet back to normal, i.e. low fats, sugars, etc. ( hard with kids and hollidays) and the last info I had was to look to get at least 1g protien per lb body wieght, I assume that is still a good benchmark.
I am getting married in 4 months, that is a time line that I'm looking at. I would like to accomplish getting most of the extra baggage off and start to look like what I used to.
I know the key, diet, diet diet and more diet. I got that part, but I am still looking to be in as good of shape now as i was a few years ago.
Hope this post wasn't too long Mr. X, just quite a bit to say right now.

Welcome bro! You've come to the right place. As has been mentioned, read all the stickies and take everything with a grain...one size does NOT fit all in this world. As a 40-something bb'r myself, I've found this a great time to add those supplements we seem to be lacking as we get older (which is what "supplement" means actually) but we also need to be a bit more careful in how we introduce things...focus as much on PCT these days as the cycle itself.

yes, PCT, something that " back in the day" as the kids say, we didn't have in our vocabulary, at least not in the places I worked out...
thanks guys, I'm going to be listening ot yall, tell me whatever you think is pertainent, I open for all suggestions and comments...

HRT is Hormone Replacement Therapy. As most of us know, as you get older, your testosterone production drops, so you can go to your Dr, and if your numbers are low enough, they will prescribe some test for you.

The best advice anyone can give to you right now is to NOT GET MARRIED!!!! It offers no legal benefits to a male in any way. All it does is make it easier for your wife to dump you cuz she knows she's gonna get half your stuff when she does. It would be traumatic enough if the wife wanted to bang the pool boy-but if you're married she can ultimately get paid for doing it... by you!!!!

OK, now that I've just saved you from emotional trauma and hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal expenses, I don't think you should be using roids to crunch time to look good at your upcoming wedding/funeral.

OH Gee, thanks for tha sage advise there BC, where you you several months ago, I could have prevented my eventual demise! :-) or maybe if you and I had been out at a titty bar or something 9 years ago when my son was conceived, all this wouldn't have to happpen to me! But all things considered, I figure that I should go ahead and marry his mom since we've been living together for the past 7 years now. It is my first time at the alter, so I prolonged the agony alot longer than most!
hey, I didn't know all this extra wisdom came with the membership, hellofadeal at any price... lol

Why ruin it now. Seven years whats wrong with the rest of your life. I'm 43 so you can find info here. But don't rush into something just for a wedding. Just watch what you eat and burn some calories.

not a bad first post... :)

check out the weightlifting forum and do some reading there as well... prob some interesting things uve never heard of before there too

always learning, best way to be

Oh good another youngster.
You'll do just fine reading and asking questions. You've already parked any ego you might have and are very cordial. It will be my pleasure to help you on your journey. Lots of good people here to help you. Good luck.

I wouldn't buy any book. Not that there isn't some good information in some of them but using AAS and the knowledge of the science behind it changes so rapidly that the book are often obsolete by the time they make print. Anabolics 2006 by Bill LLewellyn is a good place to get a basic knowledge. But don't get to locked in to anything you read because tomorrow it could be proven wrong.

this IS man!! We're starting a whole new section, just for the ol'timer tryin' to get it all back together again. Like my dad says, "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good ONCE as I ever was!"
I'm just getting to know how this place works, I've been lurking on here for about a year. I'm ready to make a move for the positive and am looking for advise and the like. I've beem pleasantly surprised so far, no flames or fireballs, whatever.
I'm an ol' lead head, getting used to new ways of doing things. I'm looking, listening and learning. All kinds of advertisements on here, looking for info on some of those things.
BTW, yall ever look over there at the pics of them women!? I'll tell you what, hell of a side benefit...

47 welcome

I did my first cycle when I was 47, that was about 10 years ago, have learned a lot on these boards, People will argue that remains to be proven.

Good luck if you need any thing just holler

At least you waited to an appropriate age to "walk the plank" and w/ a 7 yr old kid you have another 11 yrs left on your sentence anyways-so why not? lol Just beware of red flags, like her purchasing a stolen Glock 26 and asking you to take out a 10 million dollar life insurance policy making her the sole beneficiary.

With your attitude you'll enjoy yourself here and find out all the latest BB and Rx 411. I had a decent knowledge base from the pre-internet era-but modern BB pharmacology has made some tremendous leaps over the past decade or so that makes for interesting research to say the least. PCT is something that should be studied in depth as well-but for you a decent HRT program could easily make you feel 10 yrs younger and increase your sex drive in 6 months-which will not help your marriage when jr starts bringing around those Brittany Spears whore-alikes at age 14. I have 2 words for you-toilet cam! :p

yall are all funny as hell, I've kept in fair shape as being a bail bondsman requires being able to hold your own in physical situations. But my time was limited by extracurricular activities. Now, I've let some things go to create more time for BB and my son is getting of the age that he needs to do core exercises for his sports. This is a good time for us both to get into the gym. He has never seen me after I have been training, just in "glory days" pics and stories from his mom. I'd like for him to see what training will do with the proper diet and suppliments.
Anyway, I'll be asking different questions, some yall probably can guess, others are about newer approaches to old problems. I've really enjoyed posting, not what I expected. I think yall took it easy on me being my first day and all.

have everthing for the entire cycle ,and pct
is part of the cycle , good luck.
Brad.

PS. Toilet cam !

Welcome to the board bro! I already like you because you made me feel young lol. I am 34 btw.Anyways, as far as the books go, I haven't ever bought them, but I know there is some info in them that some guys have found useful. But I wouldn't just jump into blowing a lot of cash. There is a lot of info floating around in the forums on this board. If you are worried about legality, I think HRT is a great way to go. My father-in-law just got on and I was like I told ya so lol. He can't believe how much better he is feeling already. So hang out ask questions read up etc etc.

yes i second that lmao!!!!!

guys, my mindset is to get back to the hardcore BB that I was doing in the late 80's throught the 90's. I went to the gym that had no windows, no A/C, one small heater and we had all basic equiptment. I'd never heard of a Smith machine and the like. Very few women, no spandex posers, at least not for long. ( not that threre's anything wrong with that, it just wasn't at the gym's that I went to)
Now, mind you, I'm older now and my body will have to be trained somewhat differently as not to have joint injury, tendonitis (sp), and recovery time will be longer. More warm up, stretching, etc., but that shouldn't be a problem as I intend to have my 9 year old with me to introduce him to basic core exercises to strengthen his glutes, quads, back, mid section, etc. and that should allow me to get warmed up prior to my assault on the weights. But, I do want to get more bang for my buck, time is limited because of work, family, and I am wanting to get into a shape that I'm satisfied with in the next 4 months due to my impending doom...uhhhh, I mean marriage. (see posts from BC!)
I don't think that HRT will accomplish that, should a doc want to allow that, but I may be wrong, I assume that by replacement it means bring hormone levels back to normal 30 something levels. As we all know, using AAS puts them well beyond that. If someone else has better knowledge of that, I'm listening.
In my mind, I think that I need to get back to the deca/sust/dbol cycle and do my homework on PCT, as that IS new to me. I'll be reading and learning more of this in the coming weeks, and yalls input on newer cycles, PCT and the like will be a valued asset. The AAS that I mentioned above are the ones that I am familiar with, give me more input on what has worked for yall, what yall think will help me in the timeline that I have set and I'll make my mind up to what seems doable for me and go with that. I still have a short time to get all my gear, PCT and supliments together, so let me hear it, I like all the info as it has been awhile for me out of the BB circles.
Also, I see that I have been given "karma", I know that is a good thing, but how do you thank someone or is that necessary, I would think that it is, but I don't know how. I'm still learning how to navigate this site. I took a wrong turn the other day and and ended up on some pictorals, damn the bad luck! ;0

The whole HRT thing for me is nothing more than a legality issue. If the doc prescribes me test cyp and winny v I can legally possess a small amount of these roids w/o fear of getting busted for possession. This doesn't mean that I don't tap into other resources for gear as well, but it's a nice way to get a portion of your gear legally while circumventing any legal issues that could arise.

Also, view the little yin yang icon in everyone's post box. If you like what someone said, or wiosh to return karma to someone that gave you some just click on the yin yang symbol in their post's box. A pop up will appear where you can dish out a little k and leave a comment. To read your comments from others, check your k, and review your most recent posts, click on your own profile for that 411.

I hope this helps-you'll need all the positivity you can since your sex life ius about to decrease by 50% the day that ring goes on her finger. Oh well-this is a more optimistic view for ya:
