Yeah Michael Moore, Please Lecture Us on Nutrition

mrplunkey

New member
Michael Moore recently said:

"I am opposed to the building of the mosque two blocks from Ground Zero. I want it built on Ground Zero."

"There is a McDonald's two blocks from Ground Zero. Trust me, McDonald's has killed far more people than the terrorists."

Are you serious? Are we really going to get lectured about nutrition from this guy?

I can't help but feel he hasn't missed his fair share of cheeseburgers. Sure they may be locally-grown and certified organic, but I don't see him modeling in a bowflex commercial anytime soon.

I guess if we can have a smoking president who lectures us on preventative health care, anything really is possible.

Nothing more infuriating than being lectured off of a blatant hypocrite ref. diet, exercise, lifestyle choices etc.

Or dickheads that tell us to be more "green" when they fly around the globe in private jets or take limo rides that are only a few hundred yards long (I shit you not, UK politicians are famous for it yet they have the gall to want to legislate / micro-govern our lifestyle choices even more so).

Could not have said it better. Except you forgot to call out televagalist.

Michael Moore needs his mouth sewn shut. Furthermore, he's obviously completely insane, as he looks like he lives at McDonald's. And what kind of logic (well, I'm not surprised since it's Moore), is comparing the death rate from junk foods to terrorist killings? Does he think we're all imbeciles? I'd ask him how many people he thinks go to McDonald's by their own choice, vs. how many people died on 9/11 by choice.

Charles

I get sick of people blaming others for their bad choices. I loves me a good cheeseburger, but I choose not to eat them every day. I stubbed my toe on the couch this morning, I think I will sue American Furniture Warehouse because they should not have given me the option to buy that f*ckin sofa and so I could put it in the way! :finger: ouch.

I'm sure had McDonald's not been available, those people would have run straight to whole foods for a soybean sandwitch on locally-grown certified organic bread with a wheat grass chaser.

sometimes you just have to stop and add 1+1 before you move on to your next thought or sentence if it's gotten that far and the brain checker hasn't kicked in. It's like a turbo lag with you sometimes....shit really doesn't kick in till like 5-7000rpm.

You do realize that Moore is making a point about fast food in general, right? He's fingering mcdonalds for convenience but he is correct in saying that fast food has killed an order of magnitude more people and cost this country an order of magnitude more in health care costs than mooslim terroristas.

you are able to make the choice between eating a .99c cheeseburger vs. something healthier. Please understand that there are some people who simply don't have that choice. THings are changing because people have realized what a disaster the centralization of food production turned out to be....so soon the costs of eating healthy vs. eating shit will be comparable and people will then have no excuse. But for now, there is no option for alot of people.

anybody that poor can get foodstamps.

and they aren't poor enough to qualify, then they should stop buying booze and cigs first

Are you really naive enough to believe that if fast food went away, everyone would start eating food you've deemed healthy?

Here's a newsflash: If fast food was 100% banned tomorrow, people's waistlines wouldn't shrink an inch. A person seeking-out high-calorie junk food is going to find and eat it. A person seeking-out healthy food is going to similarly find and eat it.

Yup.

1) There are plenty of assistance programs available via government programs and other charities.

2) The notion that nutritional food is expensive is a myth. Go price bulk quantities of rice and beans.

3) If you're a big enough sucker to pay for "organic" or "free range" anything, then go for it. It's just a tax on libtards -- and that has to be a good thing.

4) It is odd to me that the same people who can only afford McDonalds can also afford cigarettes and alcohol -- go figure!

this. my buddy who worked at a grocery store told me he would ring up people buying LOBSTER and CRAB CAKES with the food stamps they got. He said they would use them to buy all of that expensive ass food every week while other people actually work and can't afford good meals like that.

it's sickening in my eyes....

and the people that get mcdonalds everyday. well, they love the nasty shit. I've talked to them.

and you beleived him iggs?

What happened is that one time somebody got their hands on a bunch of food stamps so they decided to cash em all in at once and get over the top expensive food. Your buddy saw this and, as so many people seem to do nowadays, extrapolate that behavior over the entire food stamp using population. In no way shape or form can you buy lobster weekly on food stamps. Wellfare fraud is the norm in this country so there are certainly people who are getting food stamps but don't actually qualify, so they can "augment" their food purchases on taxpayer dime. This is no way means that a person who "solely subsists" on food stamps can buy lobster all the time. He can maybe starve for a week then cash it all in at once, but whatever. Point is that people who aren't even on food stamps can't afford to shop at health food stores cause as of right now, demand is high and supply is low. This is changing....the food structure is going to slowly decentralize over the next 20 or so years, hopefully sooner, but as that happens you'll see "real" food becoming less expensive.

<sigh>

The problem isn't "fast food"...it's the centralization of the food business of which fast food chains are an aggregate. Fast food can be fast food because they don't have to barely cook anything...they just warm up shit that's been pre cooked and/or dehydrated by a centralized source. The reason this centralization happened is because some people figured out that they could make food "cheaper" by doing so. This was at a time when people had no fucking clue or apparent brains that they couldn't understand the future ramifications of their actions. Food was food to these idiots. Well now, some of at least, understand that food isn't food. Organic matter doesn't mean nutrition. Plenty of what we eat is just organic matter that is devoid of nutrition but qualifies technically as food. What people like you don't understand is that this is a "tax" on the human system. The more of this shit you eat, the less your body is doing important things like tissue repair and balancing of hormones etc, etc, etc. It takes resources to digest this nonsense...and we're not getting nearly enough out of it to counteract the resources it took simply to digest the shit. This is why we slowly deterioate.

This is why we're not living well past 100....it's because the entire food structure from beginning to end has been completely compromised. All fruits and vegetables, no matter if they're grown organically or not, have had their nutrional profile cut in half as far as can be proven....but more than likely more than that because data only goes back to the 40's and 50's. We've simply overfarmed the land and some of it ain't comin back no matter how many monsanto or dupont chemicals we throw at it.

oh and about the banning of fast food not having an effect.....dead wrong. The former head of the CDC wrote a book about how the food industry knowingly and purposefully manipulates the salt, fat and sugar content of it's food in order to mimick opiates like heroin. Salt, fat and sugar in the right frequencies can hit the same nueral pathways that heroin does....they spend billions researching this. It's not just fast food either....they may have been the ones that did the most research on this, but practically the entire chain restaurant business is in on this. Fridays' get a new item on it's menu, that item was tested at HQ for it's addictive nature and in for some items they get precooked in just the right way before they get shipped out to the restaurants, who then dip it into another layer of fat and then serve it up like they just cooked it fresh.

Are you suggesting that businesses optimize their products to what their customers want in the name of profits???

Dear God, I sure hope this horrible practice doesn't catch-on in other industries.

I bet we wouldn't have to worry about things like this if we'd just plan our economy centrally.

And LOL about "not living well past 100". Want to know what the average life expectancy was back in 1900 when all that locally-grown food was still so plentiful? 47.3 years.

So congratulations. You've managed to successfully romanticize a period where people were dropping dead from botulism and starving to death from failed crops at the same time.

I guess technological progress isn't that terrible after all.

He's got hundreds of millions of fuck-you money. So does Al hypocrite Gore - so unfortunately, he's got a lot of losers that listen to him.

America is full of idiots. You know my saying ("saying it again kids!").

It feels good to read that so many bros are smart enough to see through Moore's propaganda films, and his crazy ideas. I'll never understand how it's McDonalds' fault if someone is fat because they choose to eat burgers and fries.

Anyone who needs to find somebody else to blame for everything they personally choose to do wrong, is a weak coward.

Unfortunately, the Michael Moore style of "documentary" filming has adopted by everyone with a political agenda. You cherry pick quotes from edited film based on interviews given through the use of false pretenses. The fact you claim to be making a "documentary" then gives false credibility to what is essentially a propaganda film. Even Hollywood has caught on and Moore's last film wasn't even nominated.

does that argument hold water when it's children being raised on that food? no, no it doesn't. And does it still hold water when it comes out that companies are specifically manipulating the ratio of those three prior mentioned ingredients to mimick heroin use? Yes you heard that right....that's what they're doing. So why is heroin illegal if food companies can mimick the same pathways with the proper frequency of salt, fat and sugar?? If we can buy it legally at a drive through for 99c why can't I heat up a spoon and shoot it into my arm?

Granted the strength of the signal is "obviously" going to be much greater when you take the real deal and shoot it like that......but cumulatively the effects are equally as bad for people who reinforce those pathways over decades of this shit eating feces habit.

That's what parents are for.

I'd think being able to distinguish McDonald's from heroin would be a critical life skill. Clearly we've upset the natural Darwinian process.

well it's become apparent that "parents" in this country are breeding a generation of kids that are going to cost us trillions in healthcare whether we're capitalists or socialists. THis has already been established. And there's some army generals who got together to write a book about this topic and it would seem they agree with my point of view.

California is considering banning fast food companies from advertising "toys" that come included with their meals for children.

Good^^

If it wasn't acceptable for tobacco companies to pander to children it "sure as hell" isn't acceptable for the diabetes panderers either. Apparently they free market doesn't work here or else we wouldn't be discussing whether in 20 years there's anybody in this country that "doesn't" have diabetes.

If you still think it's simply those kids fault's...go educate yourself on epi-genetics. If you don't realize what it means for children to be predisposed and born with certain disease's..what it means for the fabric of this society, than you're just done. I've been hinting at this for some time and you show no signs of "getting it". You're done, over. If you ever had it I have no idea but I'm sure at some point, like when you were 4 maybe.....who knows. :whatever:

Hopefully we can form a new government agency to tell people exactly how to raise their children.

And maybe McDonalds is in a secret pact with Invitrogen to genetically screen children to find the food additives they are most addicted too. I smell shenanigans!

Here's a few big ideas:

1) Worry less about unmeasurable amounts of obscure toxins under each rock (or inside every big mac) and worry more about not getting fat.

2) Fat parents make fat kids because evolution programmed kids to mimic their parents behavior. All the ones who couldn't learn by imitating mom and dad died-off 100,000 years ago.

3) Make people responsible for their own health. If they want to smoke, fine. But no one else needs to pay for it. Same thing goes for food, exercise or any other behavior.
