Yates - Blood and Guts

What details are you looking for Tuc? Off season much like Blood and Guts, in short intense periods, then adding some volume with isolation stuff closer to competition. Interestingly, he told me that he actually quite liked to use machines, but that is not something that is generally talked about.

Remember this is not one maximal set per bodypart, but one set over 4 or 5 exercises.

when and where did you talk to him, how big was he, were people staring at him, the type of things a wide eyed child would want to know, haha.

Lol, I have contacts in the sup company he represents who sponsor most events in the UK, so after events the team plus hangers on (me) often go out for some food or to a bar or club. He's not so big anymore, still trains and is in good shape but noone that didnt know him would take a second look. Its funny, cos at most events they have a Pro over from the US, or Ernie Taylor is there, so obvioulsy they get the attention, and I wonder how Dorian feels.

You coming down to the Bitish Grand Prix? Dorian will be around there I expect.

he is using really high intensity but is also doing a very low number of sets

Dorian did in fact use a lot of machines in his training program.

I know for a fact he was really big on using the smith machine and hammer strength equipment.

Make no mistake, he created the foundation of his body by using basic barbell movements.

I read an article a long time ago that Dorian started training in 1983. . . . by 1985, Dorian asked his future training partner to spot him on the bench press. . . .Dorian was able to knock out 10 reps using 315lbs after two years of training.

I also read that Dorian was using 585lbs on ass to floor squats for 12 reps (using the smith machine). . . Needless to say, Dorian never had weak legs.

I will be honest and confess that I used Dorians type of training when I became serious. I was able to make some incredible gains in size.

Are the drugs the reason why these guys lose so much size? It seems like all you would have to do is eat sufficient protein and do maintenance training to keep the bulk on. Atrophy of the muscle shouldn't happen that fast, right?
