X-Rep

Hi guys,
I have been visiting a few weightlifting sites when I stumbled upon xrep.com or x-rep.com

Something like that
It describes a training method that is supposedly able to pack some SERIOUS muscle in like, a few months time.

I wished to know what you guys think about the x-rep, or extended reps.

Cheers

hmmm.... well i read it and i think i'd rather not part with my $$. whether or not it actually works is not the issue to me. the issue is that there are plenty more places where i can get training info for FREE. training info that i know WILL help pack on mass.

right here on EF is the most obvious.

Is there a training method that doesn't promise that? I agree with silver_shadow: there's no reason to pay for routine, diet, etc. advice when there's so much information out there and you can probably tailor a program better to your own needs than some stranger can.

the fellas at ironman, steve something and jonathan lawson?? i think developed it. basically finishing off a set with partials in certain ranges of motion, for ex.the bottom position of a bench press. i heard it takes quite a toll on the CNS, but thats just the word on the street

Sorry, maybe I did not make myself clear. I am not willing to pay the guys at xrep. All I want to know is:

Does this xrep thingy actually work better than other methods?

=)
sorry guys

well, the xrep ads and write ups in ironman say they work wonders!! but every program in the magazines work right?!? youd have to give it a shot to see how effective it really is, thats about all i can tell ya

I did a brief read and thought there might be some value in their concept of sustaining a set over 32 secs without going to reps over 10. Tried it and it kills to slow down like that. Fries the nervous system.

I tried to follow the logic of the exercises, sets and reps ... and got lost. Too much jumping around and dependence on a training partner.

I still think keeping it simple, pushing the last set, eating healthy and full recovery is the key.

Almost certainly not. It looks like just another bodybuilding mag program with "kitchen sink" exercise selection and gimmicky rest/weight selection schemes. Any program would seem effective with the support of Jay Cutler's genes, medicine cabinet, and cadre of trainers/handlers. Stick to a program with solid theory behind it and meaningful progression/goals, and just eat above maintenance if you want to gain muscle.
