fuck the hippocratic oath

its also the origin of the word hypocrisy btw

i don´t care about that communist piece of moralist suppressive crap.

I´m in med school for two reasons- because I´m interested in biology and the human body, and to attain a marketable skill.

If I can make 5 bucks an hour more doing "meaningless" vanity surgeries, or extending the life of a 90 yr old rich dude who doesn´t look after his health, than saving one cute kid after another, I´ll do the former.

What is this bullshit about doctors "responsibility" to the world? Since when do we owe people jack shit?

...
G'damn Hiat, your patients are gonna be some lucky motherfuckers, I tell you what  From that post and everything you've ever posted on these boards you sound like one cold hearted son of a bitch. I wouldn't take my cats to a VET with your attitude.

People like you should just stick with pathology or research. There is more to treating illness than just treating the body.

that is messed up that they wont see you....i guess if ins wont help you figure it out then make a typicsl appt then while there say some thing about the pain still there and the pills making you sick......i have never been in this place but it does seem like mighty knows what he is talking about

Do you have health insurance?

If you went to the ER (at least it's what they do by me) you are assigned a follow up doctor in the field that relates to your issue.

I've been in the ER for hernia (non accident) and having my face shredded by a cat (accident) and I was seen by two attendings and then seen and sent to a surgeon and a plastic surgeon for follow up vistits and surgery.

All covered under my health insurance.

Doctors can't just turn you down, unless you're talking months later that you need a
doctor's note" and he/she doesn't want to get involved in that sort of mess I don't see how they can say no in your situation. Makes no sense.

hy·poc·ri·sy ( P ) Pronunciation Key (h-pkr-s)
n. pl. hy·poc·ri·sies
The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
An act or instance of such falseness.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Middle English ipocrisie, from Old French, from Late Latin hypocrisis, play-acting, pretense, from Greek hupokrisis, from hupokrnesthai, to play a part, pretend : hupo-, hypo- + krnesthai, to explain, middle voice of krnein, to decide, judge; see krei- in Indo-European Roots.]

Funny, I don't see the name "Hippocrates" anywhere in that list of linguistic roots. Maybe you should stick to Dutch etymology.

why is it not surprising that everything goes well with insurance companies up to the moment when they need to pay?

i use to work for an insurance company till i got fed up with them screwing policy holders. the things they dont tell you is the same as lying. not to them. they feel if you dont ask they dont have to tell you. so when it comes time to pay they point out shit in your policy that had you known before you would have never went with them.

Sure there is. People are free to visit their astrologists, psychologists and ladies who squeeze goats testicles to tell their fortunes to get it.

Don´t assume I´d be a bastard. I´m actually a very polite guy. I just can´t stand car-salesman-doctors who smile and go Oprah on you and don´t tell you shit since it might upset you.

I dislike it when society seems to "expect" I´m doing this for them. I´m not doing it for them, anymore than the typical law student is in it "to support our glorious constitutional state".

I´ve been around in hospitals alot and have known a lot of doctors at work. They don´t respect all the patients... they´re obviously people

I didn´t check, maybe you´re right, but the even greater similarity between the words in my language and the fact that I´d heard it even before going to med made me think so.

It COULD be named after it anyway.

most doctors still take that thing and it basically comes down to

never doing an abortion
never doing euthanasia
providing your services for the good of humanity to best of your ability

True for those who join Médecins Sans Frontières, maybe. Although most who do that seem to be doing it for a good resume, too.

This thread is just further proof that in so-called free-market medicine, the patients come last. I can't wait 'til the whole medical profession gets the rug pulled out from under them.

I dont have insurance, you can either sign up for charity care..Which pays 100% of all my hospital visits, as for a Doc find a better one unless it's blood work which I dont pay for at the Office I pay a flat fee off 63 dollars..For an kind of check up..Look around or a better doctor sweetheart...
