In Canada they believe the government must make the decisions because the average person doesn't know how to make decisions for him/herself.

Why else would we have government? Someone needs to take care of the people since they can't take care of themselves.

That's also true in the US. Last time I checked, you could end up with a criminal record in many US states for buying steroids (even a little amount), not in Canada...
