When I born, I* black*,
when I grow up, I* black*,
when I go in sun, I* black*,
when I cold, I* black*,
when I scared, I* black*,
when I sick, I* black*,
and when I die, I still* black*.

You white folks....
when you born, you* pink**,*
when you grow up, you* white*,
when you go in sun, you* red*,
when you cold, you* blue*,
when you scared, you* yellow,
*when you sick, you* green,*
when you bruised, you* purple,
*and when you die, you* gray*.

*So who you callin'** c**o**l**o**r**e**d** folks ?*

Come ot think of it, it is true, I do turn all those colours when I am all of the above, more so when I am angry. :rainbow:

LOTS of color diversity amoungst the white race. I personally believe white folks are more diverse than any other race on the planet. We cover the color spectrum in hair color, eye color and skin tone.
red hair
blond hair
platinum hair
auburn hair
chestnut hair
raven black hair

green eyes
blue eyes
grey eyes
brown eyes
black eyes
and the famous violet eyes of Liz Taylor

and skin color the range from milk white to mediterraniun olive and all shades inbetween (Lets not forget the spotted skin of red freckles)

What do the Asians have?
Black hair and black eyes
Africans?
Black hair and black eyes
Native americans?
black hair and black eyes

Anytime any one tells you white folks NEED black and asian folk for diversity fail to see the diversity with in our race.

That's it? You're kidding, right? Never seen a black person with hazel eyes or naturally brown hair?

How are you delineating which of that white diversity does not come from race-mixing?

Or naturally blond or red hair? With freckles? Grey eyes? Yep, its possible.

Or different features? Depending on the length of my hair and complexion (it does change), I've been confused with Egyptian, Brazilian, Cuban, Dominican, Guyanese, Sudanese, Ethiopian (the middle eastern influenced). I have had American Black people argue with me about where I was from (they couldn't believe I was conceived by two parents from Brooklyn) and I have had African people (sub-sahara) get pissed at me for calling myself African-American (they didn't believe me either). My sister has been confused with Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egyptian as well (she has a yellow complexion and gets very pale in the winter - yep, its true).

We are alot more diverse than what you see on television.

I think you need to look thru a black family photo album....any black family.
Look at someone from Somalia versus other nations. You can spot them a mile away because they have medium skin with dark rings around the eyes and lips like they're tired or got sucker punched. My gf was born with one blue eye and one green eye. They're both hazel green now. My mom is super light skinned.

IMO, based on recent finds listed in Scientific American & National Geographic, I don't believe the HUMAN race can be delineated into only 3 races, White's, Blacks, & Asians. I believe there are more divisions within the white race that people do not recognize. This may account for the wide variety of 'white' attributes. Vive la difference! Variety is the spice of life.

* White (not of Hispanic origin): Having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, North Africa, or the Middle East.

* Black (not of Hispanic origin): Having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.

* Asian or Pacific Islander: Having origins in any of the peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent or the Pacific Islands. This includes, for example, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, the Philippine Islands, and Samoa.

* Hispanic: Those of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race.

* American Indian or Alaskan Native: Having origins in any of the original peoples of North America and who maintain cultural identification through tribal affiliation or community recognition.

I'm not sure where that leaves middle-easterners but Hengst seems to count Hispanics as white. Wonder how much diversity there is among native whites in Sweden or Finland?

What?? There are people from Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic darker than me w/ similar features (hair (Yes, its true), nose, hips, etc). The only difference is Spanish is their native language. You could drop me off in Washington Heights (a dominant Dominican community) and I know I someone would approach me speaking Spanish.

When thinking of races I cheated a little. There is some evidence to indicate aboriginals of the Americas originally came from Asia many millenia ago, so I lumped them together. I also considered the hispanics as white, considering they came from European countries.
Gross oversimplification, I know.
Getting into my theory about other races goes back several hundred thousand years. Everything since then is amalgamations.
I was reaading an artical on Norway or sweden regarding their bloodlines. I'll see if I can find it.
I think it's great. When we all realize the only purity in us is human, then I think we'll be better off.

Why come up with theories on race anyhow? Its all been studied and restudied in archaeaological and anthropological circles.
The most diverse peoples come from africa. Bone structure, skeletal differences, facial features are striking seeing one tribe to the next. With the zillions of genes we have, only a few control the amount of melanin in the skin. Which is a product of I believe folate, colro of the skin is just a function of the amount of sunlight the people evolved in. And dont let anyone give you that bullshit that evolution doesnt occur intergenerational lol

For those who think this is a racist thread, I am sorry but the intent was not to make a racist remark, it is in good fun to break the ice a little bit and to take you guys away from the "good bro/bad bro" threads. Plus I am white and I am alowed to make fun of my own colour at any time I please.

Enjoy your day my dear EFers.

I know. I find the whole thing fascinating. Following the discoveries that illuminate the paths of the various prehistoric races out of Africa. Gene studies tracking populations. Linguistic studies, tracking movements in the Americas. I think all that diversity highlights the fact that no-one of us is more special than another.

No one is more special than others and when we are born we are all born equal be it oriental, white, black, red etc. Situations change later on in life according to how one lives her/his life and if that one person can distinguish between good and bad, and is able to take responsibility for her/his actions.

Exactly. I think one's actions determine their worth, & personal accountability for their actions.

There's probably 3 people in Scandinavia or Bora Bora that are racially pure. That's it.
I've read and heard that blonde hair will be extinct in 200 years or so

LOL,good post,k to you:)

I watched a thoughtful program on the national geographic channel
detailing early man etc,etc.
one of their conclusions was that during the ice age mankind's population may have fell to as low as a few(below 10k) thousand
then using current DNA tracking/typing techniques they also concluded that all of our genetic material has as it's source ONE man
they also used DNA to track back to original tribe
which is still in existance in Africa
they of course visited this tribe
sure enough the members of this tribe had characteristics seen throughout the world
some had "slant" eyes
some had high foreheads(i.e. northern european)

what I find interesting is as the world continues to get intermingled
we're all going to return to this tribe

we're all equal before the law

you're foolish if you think all genetic combinations are equal

I think she meant equal before God, but lets not open pandora's box with this mine you laid, and genetics involves evolution so if you write the equation long enough and take into account the traits and the adaptations in the context of the environment they succeeded in, then, it should all uniformly, given a large enough n value, equal out, b/c of the laws of thermodynamics, the first one being transfer of energy, given what the environment is, the adaptation will occur between races at an equal rate, all things being equal to begin with of course :p

I meant equal before God because we are all God's children. :verygood:

ok buttmunch
what I commented on was given the obvious genetic diversity amongst us
we share a common ancestor
according to national geogrphic
that's what I find surprising
because typically that model fits the chistian position
sort of

I think we should make a game of evolutions, a drinking game, get drunk, whose the monkey? who gets the monkey? the brassmonkey, electrons are colorless, we are just a frequency, the colors that we are just frequencies absorbed and reflected back to the eye

Wouldn't these adaptations, over time, be in different directions due to geographical environmental factors?
