Wrist problem

Creepusmaximus

New member
My first set of barbell rows were painful. I do them palms facing me and for some reason my wrists hurt? I switched my grip to palms facing away and no pain. No problems the rest of the work out, any ideas what's up with my wrists?

am i getting this right, what type of row, your palms should be facing you or away, this sounds like a weird grip or did you not say it right.

that grip puts a larger amount of stress on your wrist then using an overhand grip. that movement is called a "yates row" when you use the underhand grip. there's not much you can do to alleviate the pain. you can try getting a pair of wrist wraps to put around your wrist for some support. i wear them for all my upperbody workouts, but still i experience pain using an underhand grip(regardless of the width of the grip).

The thing is I have been doing barbell rows for a long time, strange that my wrists started hurting all of a sudden. Think more forearm work would help? Maybe some kinda grip work? Maybe next work out everything will be fine?
