One lift event requires lifting 2, 275lb (550lbs total) oxygen tanks (w/steel handles) running with them at your side 3 laps turning around 3 times (I assume about 1/4 mile) total best time was under a minute.

Your a douche bag. that would be a 4 minute mile,.........unlikley to say the least.

Obviously that original post was a typo on the distance, as 99.9% of the US population can not run a mile in under 4 minutes.(that's without) carrying any weights. :) I have seen the event though and it looks gruelling, to say the least.

I'm a douchbag?

ok I said (I assume it was about a quarter mile) it was in meters not sure how many but you get the idea.
Tactless name calling is not needed Mac.
I hate people who ruin boards by name calling, grow up and think before you talk.

Bad Karma to those who deserve it for un-called for flamers and name callers.

take care, Cheers!

Whats the guys name who won the 2002 met-rx worlds strongest man? That guy wasnt just strong, he was very big,and had a respectable bodyfat level. He really dominated the whole thing, he was very confident, almost cocky, but i think he deserved to be. I think he was 275 competing against much larger competitors, and still was by far the best.-WULF

Was it Magnus Samuelson?

If you are talking about the polish guy.......he hardly dominated. He got beat in the heats and humbled in the events requiring all out strength in the finals. Bfold has also posted the results of a Grand Prix that happened just after the Worlds. The Polish guy came in fifth. Sure that isn't too sloppy, but he didn't dominate at all.

I found a link, not sure if is the main Met-Rex one

Johnny Perry Passes Away
Johnny Perry, World’s Strongest Man finalist and a true giant, passed away from a heart attack. He was 30.

Formerly known as Steel when a member of Extreme Championship Wrestling, Johnny brought an engaging personality and amazing size to the sport of Strongman.

At the 2002 World’s Strongest Man Competition in Malaysia, Johnny weighed in at 390 pounds at 6’5”. And it wasn’t fat. With a 42” waist to go along with 25” biceps, he was lean. “He was bigger than life,” said American Strongman Walt Gogola. “He could stop traffic just by walking down a sidewalk.”
