WORLD STRONGEST man Vs. Ronnie??? anabolics?

I compete in these competitions at the amateur level. There is not a lot of correlation between how much one can deadlift or squat and how good you'll be on the superyoke, farmers walk, or stones, especially when tried for the first time. Those lifts help but there is no substitute for practice and technique with those events. Every comp I've been too throughout the country has had one or two big local lifters just show up thinking they are going to kick everybodys ass, after the first or second event these guys become very humble. And there is LOTS of drug use!!!

I agree with you as far as having to practice the different techniques. Powerlifting involves quick bursts of power whereas the strongman contests require that you don't get winded easily and can lift a ton.

One lift event requires lifting 2, 275lb (550lbs total) oxygen tanks (w/steel handles) running with them at your side 3 laps turning around 3 times (I assume about 1/4 mile) total best time was under a minute.

I lot of short powerful guys have no problems with certain events, not picking up stones but putting on ledge as the first one is about 5 feet in the air. Tall guys really have the advantage on this one same as when they tip the steel logs over hand over hand til it falls over.

Short guys have advantages in the dead lifts cause the bar is so high they only have to bend bar and get upright and lock (only a few inches for short guys), wheres the 6'7" dudes have to dead lift the weight about a foot off the ground to lockout to be a complete good dead lift.

Seems overall tall guys have advantages with long arms for pulling ropes and running with weights.

I seen quite a few "Big Farm Boys" (non Juicers) stronger than shit at certain things that I wasn't. Yet I was way stronger at gym lifts than they were. Like heaving heavy shit and walking with it, techniques.

Most bodybuilders would never be able to do as they are more musclebound and not trained but for normal gym lifts (grips). I bet many would get injured pretty bad unless lots of practice.

No one would show up if they drug tested.

thanks for the kick of reality... i bet the general public believes they dont. "there just naturally big guys"... i guess this is because they have higher bf's??

Fuck that bloated piece of shit Ronnie Coleman. Those guys are ten times stronger than body builders. They are born "naturally" strong and atheletic. Anabolics enhance their strength beyond anything human. BB'ers are to strict about their movements and routines to get that strong. Just my $.02

No Ronnie wouldn't hang. He can't even walk from the Green Room to the couch on Leno without having to take a minute to catch his breath.

LOL. So true, I understand he fits the meathead BB stereotype pretty well from his interview. (I didn't get to see it, but I think I remember reading a transcript of it)

This would be a funny post, if not for the fact that its true.:)

World Strongman Competition are not concerned about testing for roids...they do test for speed...they don't want any competitors dropping dead.

I wonder how he keeps his job with the police dept, Id love to see him try to chase someone down...

"LIGHT WEIGHT!!" lol

Whats the guys name who won the 2002 met-rx worlds strongest man? That guy wasnt just strong, he was very big,and had a respectable bodyfat level. He really dominated the whole thing, he was very confident, almost cocky, but i think he deserved to be. I think he was 275 competing against much larger competitors, and still was by far the best.-WULF
