Working out while sick ?

I have been doing the 5x5 program finally for like 6+weeks now, and notice a little improvement in my body. I am 5'10" 165lbs trying to gain like 10lbs of muscle and not fat, already with the 5x5 and adding protein shakes I have gained about 5-6lbs, bu some days it doesnt add to that much, others more ?

Anyway's my whole point or questions is, do ya workout while being sick ? I dont mean in the hospital sick, or even in bed with a 102 fever, but what about a common cold, scratchy throat a little achy, I feel depressed now when I dont workout on my scheduled days, and I think my toughing it out it is ok, just maybe not as many sets or reps while sick ?

no stay home. don't make other people sick 'cause you want to lift. go back to your '100 pushups/situps' routine until you are no longer contagious.

I also have a weight bench in the Basement with dumbbells, barbells, and like 200lbs of bench weight, I suppose I can just do it at Home the next few workouts, just go a little easier ?

Maybe just do a 3x5routine the next few times ? Just dont go crazy on the bench to hurt myself, but everything else I can pretty do here almost

I have had a cold and have been still in the gym - it's a nagging cough and is embarrassing when I am coughing in the gym but it's not contagious anymore and I don't feel especially tired or run down so fuck it. Plus, I've had this damn cough for a couple weeks now. But with the flu, I tend to stay out.

If your not contagious its fine. just cover your mouth when you cough ;-). I hate grabbing a piece of equipment covered in phlegm(sp). :mix:

if im not feeling good i usually go and try to do something, even if its a few light sets, just so i dont feel like i did nothing all day and get depressed. but dont go in when youre not feeling it and try to go hard, cause thats usually when people get hurt.

Nah, nothing like that. Dry cough that only comes on after deads or squats or something realyl intense. No phelgm.

Never touch equipment with a hand you just coughed on and never wipe your face or suck on a finger with a hand that has been holding a bar even when your not sic. This how you can get sic,all these different people touching different things. What about that old man that goes in and only benches about 40kgs? I bet he had his hands on his willy while in the change rooms.....

If your gay it might prevent you from sucking on another mans middle leg, seeings the gym is usually full of big mucsly guys. That is ovcoarse only if your gay.

honestly there have been plenty of times when i was sick and went to the gym. for some reason i would feel a little better afterwards especially if i have a cold. if i just lay around it doesnt seem to get a lot better. id just say that in my opinion if lifting on a day when you have a cold or are a little sick up the amounts of vitamin c, amino acids and glutamine youre taking.
