work ethic

My GF said she is tired of the BS work ethic at her place of employment. She is a manager at a food restauraunt and she hates it that the slightly above minimum wage workers do not work hard. even another manager (softball player) does not pull her own weight. She ask my what she was supposed to do and I told her to do her job to the best of her ability, despite the other pieces of shit. I mean you have to take care of yourself. Don't yall agree?

Questions?
1. should you show up to work 20 minutes early everyday ? I think so, everyday
2. Do your job despite other co-workers work ethic? cetaintly
3. give more even though you get paid the same? Sure
4. Tell other co-workers (your subordinates) what to do even if they are your aquaintances? yes
5. If things are not working the way you think they should tell your boss, or your bosses boss? Yes. get results

What do yall think. Those were my answers above.

The best way to get ahead in business is being the first one to show up in the morning and the last one to leave at night.

does she really expect "slightly above minimum wage workers" to work hard?
should you show up 20 minutes early to work everyday? hmmm let me think about that for a second, ummmmmmmm hell no

Yes you should and if the sorry as $8 an hour workers ernerd their money than they would appreciate their job and not ask for handouts or assistance. I say fire the slackers and hire the want to workers

i also agree, you can't expect people working for $10 or less to do any real work.. you are lucky they show up more then half of the time they are expected to. That is just how it is for certiain job, I can't say I blame them. I worked in restuarants when I was in high school and college, I saw people who had made a career out of it, and they were miserable. I work hard here because I get 5-10K in performance BONUSES here.. and raises.. and upward mobility.

where are you getting that they are asking for handouts and assitance?
and most of the $8 an hr workers are slackers by nature, this is why they earn that much
if your gf is expecting them to all be hard workers she is not being realistic in the real world

slackers.. or grew up with little to no opportunities.

When I was in High School I made 3.90 an hour. i busted my ass everyday and in less than 6 months I was promoted. After that they asked me to be a manager for $40k. I had to refuse because I was still in HS. I played sports and could not work full time during the year. If people do not want to put out, then they should not work and not complain. there should be an ISLAND for those sorry ass fucks! Get them out of the U.S.

All but #1....

In my experience supers always come in a bit late....if I were her, I would come in at normal time but stay later sop they actually see she is there

I guess. But I say, come in early and stay late. It all pays off. I come in an hour early at my job and I have made 2 advancements worth about 20K in 2 years.

awesome man!

I believe that certain people have certain aptitudes for different things though...

some people, no matter how early they get in, how hard they work, or how late they stay will EVER be CEO.

Well, I have always worked in restaurant business and management too
I dont expect anyone to be at work 20 minutes ahead of time because if they are working at a restaurant, more than likely its a mother of kids or a teenager and of course they have better things to do than come to work for minimum wage
and the same applies with the worth ethics too....if they are making minimum wage, you cant expect a whole lot out of them. Most people do not have the "whatever the job is im doing, im going to do it well" attitude....its just a job to pay bills or help them at the mall later on
I wish everyone worked the same but they dont.....some work faster and some work slower....no matter how much they get paid
4-yes even if they are your acquaintances, you have a job to do and whether they like it or not, you ARE their boss
5-Hmmmmmmm sometimes if theres a problem in the workplace, you soemtimes want to handle things your own way.....but if you have tried, then i think you should tell the boss to get it handled accordingly

lol @ "work ethic" for fast food workers.

What's the incentive for these workers?

If they bust their asses...will they be making $15/hr next year? No. They're pigeon-holed in a category where everyone is relegated to be *equal*. It's like taking a job where your salary isn't based upon your value, but rather fitting some pre-defined salary some fat guy above decreed.

What's the worse that can happen to these workers? They'll get fired, and they can go work somewhere else the next day for minimum wage.

Big deal.

For most americans -- their only incentive to do a good job -- is to not get fired. Keep receiving that paycheck.

When you're already at the bottom (minimum wage) ... there's not much lower you can get. And when your salary has nothing to do with your performance (50c raises? negro please) -- there is little care for performance or "ethic".

Actually, the trend in many Fast Food places is to treat employees like gold -- to keep them there and keep churn and attrition low. Ever seen the benefits and programs McDonald's gives?
