Women: would you marry a guy without a diamond ring?

My woman and I don't give a shit what other people think. We both wear silver bands. I would never buy a diamond after I learned that they are mined by slave children in Africa.

Velvett here's a thread related to the one you posted today

LOL

Amazing how much some things/people can change in nearly 3 years.

And some things/people will forever remain constant.

If you know what I mean.

So no one has posted a reason why a man should still buy a woman a ring and not deserve something in return. This one of the best things men have going for them right now, we do have options. Life isn't the way it used to be where we each had defined roles and I believe that the more intelligent are finding different avenues to success. For me it will be finding a woman from a different country who values other things than a fat rock from a foreign nation. As more and more men follow trends like these then the scale will balance.

I think maybe a man's (or a women's) best bet is to simply pair up with someone that shares a similiar point of view on things.

I don't think something as simple as "not going American" will be a guaranteed success, you may just find you trade one cultural difference for another.

It's really more about expectations - for some it's the idea of something that mean more than the actual execution.

I would agree completely with what you stated. For me though, I have found that women in the western society right now have not found their place. They strive for equality however are inhibited by prior traditions and beliefs. In the near future I believe they will take the role of equality through out life but meanwhile I will choose to avoid them.
