audio8 & others,
the studies i have are in a magazine, so i can't post them. but in the article they mentioned that normal levels rebound relatively quickly (within 3 weeks of discontinuance of winny - actually, stanozolal (winny) was the drug they used in the test).
it's also relatively straightfoward to understand. oral steroids (alkylated) all increase hepatic lipase activity (a liver enzyme that destroys HDL). but this increased activity will not continue after discontinuance of oral steroids...why would it??? so if the activity drops, your bodies natural production of HDL won't be counteracted by the increased hepatic lipase activity. furthermore, with the increase in HDL, LDL levels will fall back into normal range (remember they were raised in the first place by the drop in HDL levels - the carrier that effectively combats LDL). all steroids can affect cholesterol activity, but none so drastically as oral alkylated steroids.
