the republicans in FL are slashing cops, firefighters and teachers salaries 5% in FL as well. not the group of people you want to piss off. it isn't right at all. considering they already are underpaid and the cost of living in most of FL is sky high. and people wonder why cops turn corrupt.
Oh no! 5% PERCENT!!!! That mean troopers and cops that are pulling in 100K with OT are gonna now have to gross 95K, let me get a friggan tissue. I have many many news articles up here of cops making that much, some made 160K with OT in the past couple years.
I say good, the gravy train is over for these public and town municipalities. Less private sector jobs = less tax money coming in to pay for these jobs and super inflated pensions, all of them just feeding at the public trough.
The Dominoes are falling and SOMEHOW teachers, state workers, cops and firefighters think they're ALL above this economy landslide.
Think again idiots, this is gonna happen everywhere.
Don't hate them, hate the system that brought them to this point.

in FL troopers don't get paid 100K
they start out making in the 30's and average in the 40's.
firefighters get paid not much more.
also state employees are paid way less then private sector workers with college degrees in 46 out of 50 states. so when you cut anything (even just 5%) you make their shitty wages, shittier. good teachers, cops, and firefighters are gonna leave the state, or go do other jobs.
I really hope all this gets passed so that there is a major backlash. even if you are the biggest republican ever, no one wants to see their pay get cut.
FL is and was already a crappy state for state employees.. and a crappy state for private sector too. so we pretty much will end up just being a state full of old and cheap retirees and $8 an hour tourism industry jobs. we have the 4th largest population, yet out of the 500 fortune companies we have TWO. 2 out of 500 that are based in FL!! yet we have the lowest corporate taxes and no state income tax. go figure. I guess Wisconsin wants to be the next FL.
you have to attract talent to be a successful company.. you cannot hire people and pay them crappy wages.. and you cannot mantain your talent by cutting peoples pay. it doesn't work like that in the business world.. I know A LOT of people both in the public and private sectors getting the heck out of FL and moving to other states and they are being replaced by retirees and retreads who don't mind working 50 hours a week for $8 an hour.. not good for an economy.
Yeah, damn those old people and tourists who bring their outside money and dump it into the state.
They'd be so better off if they just took more money from people who live in the state, and paid it to state workers. Then the state workers could pay taxes and they'd just get the money right back! It would be a perpetual money supply!!!
Here's a little economics hint: The trick is to get more money coming in than is going out. That applies to households, businesses, cities, governments and yes, even states.
FL unemployment rate is 12% which is a full 3.1% higher then the national number.
they aren't dumping shit into the state. thats my point.. the state is going to hell while the rest of the country is recovering.
like I said before and you completely ignored. TWO out of 500 fortune 500 companies are based in FL. and we have the 4th highest population. so obviously your sides economics doesn't work PERIOD.
Pfft. Why would they do that when they can cut everyone else's salary?Don't right to work for less states make an average of 11% less in hourly wages?
And if they want to cut education then the politicians should have to send their kids to public schools as part of the deal. If their kids come out illiterate and dumb then its the politicians fault for cutting wages and funding and generally not giving a fuck about the people. also they should cut their own wages to the average annual salary of their state to help out. It's only fair.
I'm interested that the other side has finally decided to provide death threats against the other. Now with both sides doing the threats, perhaps the more level headed people from both sides can calm the more radical components down. All we need now is more threats on priests to equal the anti-abortion threats to make in truly interesting.

I don't know any cops that make close to that. I did loans for a number of cops and the one that made the most was a homicide detective. Dude made $70K/ yr. Most I know are in the $35-40K range, and they've been on the force for years.
I'm happy to see that threats go both ways. The death threats only go one way.
If a tea party protester is even alleged to say something derogatory, it's national news 24/7.
Whereas a government union thug can flaunt signs and make overt threats about "getting bloody" and it barely gets covered by the mainstream media.
