Why workout in steel toe work boots?

Do you work out at your gym wearing Kodiak Steel Toe Work Boots?
just curious what the deal on that is.

we have a couple guys at our gym who do this.

the must be reading flex to much....Do they also wear cutt-off shorts and sunglasses in the gym as well ?

I might as well ask about the camo pants too...we have guys who always wear them and we have no army bases for 100 miles.

I'm an Air Force brat and we tend to frown upon the use of military gear by civilians

these are the same guys who claim to "work out" for 2 hours per day. Actually, they spend most of their time looking and flexing at themselves in the mirror, so into themselves that they are too good to even notice the naked chick on fire behind them.

i strongly agree here... its wannabe... you guys have put in your time and have earned the right to wear your gear...
as far as the boots go...

they might have been watchin to many lumberjack competitions on OLN..those guys are huge tho haha so th eboots look pretty cool on them.. rule of thumb if the guy wearing the boots has people askin him why he wears them then he is not big enough to wear them in public.. as in if u can wear a "im gay " shirt in public and have no one think twice about askin u about it then ur one big bad dude..just my two cents

People see them in magazines and think they become the next pro bb. It looks stupid. Next time you see them see if they are wearing a cut off flanel with mid thigh cut off blue jeans.

HA! Or maybe they wear a button-down shirt; cut the sleeves off of it and cut the neck and collar.

+1 bro.

I'm in college and I see some pretty funny shit on a regular basis. It's about time for everyone to start going to the gym again, so I hope I'm big enough to convince people to leave me the hell alone.

Some people care too much about what other people are wearing, lifting or talking about in the gym.. Honestly, I'm way too focused in there to even notice what else is going on.. I'm usually talking to myself, huffing and puffing before a lift, and then pacing in order to keep myself from passing out after some heavy deadlifts..

But maybe its so they don't drop a plate on their cute little toesies.

Macho
Good ankle support
Protects the toes
Higher heel for squats

I had a 45 lb plate just glance off my big toe once and it was awful.
Lost the nail in addition to the pain and bruising.

Wore them a lot in the factories. The comfort and support were excellent.

Oh ... Did I mention macho? LOL

A few years ago I was in Manhattan on business and asked the hotel concierge to refer me to a hardcore gym. (I went to college in Manhattan, but that was decades ago.) Ended up at this gym where everyone, men and women wore boots.

Turned out i was the only straight person in the joint, and the women were all bigger than the men. It was in Chelsea, so I shoulda' known.

Maybe they are putting together a new band "The Village people II - Uncensorred" Just be glad all you see is the boots! LOL!

didn't know that there was a dress code to work out :p I wear whatever, of course, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those boots..but I have seen guys come in and work out using their gloves, no fingers cut off, that they use for working in the yard...you know those big yellow work gloves...but i guess, if it gives ya motivation..oh well..

lol

I wear big yellow dish washing gloves because every time I go to the gym I think, "ewe, germs!" I also wear a hair-net.

I wear strong shoes/boots because I train heavy. I've broken toes before - dropping a 100lbs. dumbell on your pinky is not cool

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a people watcher, so when I'm on the recum-bike for 30-60 mins I observe others rather than observe myself.

Nothing is more interesting than "people"

When I'm deadlifting or squating I'm all business...

don't forget the mullet lol

Well, I did see a guy slide a 35lbs plate off a rack, and loose his grip. It crushed his big toe something awful. Sneeker was full of blood. My balls crawled up just looking at it.

I wear otomix high tops, but I always squat and deadlift barefoot (with socks on). I have seen guys wear their corcoran jump boots with loose laces. cracks me up.

I wear SWAT 9" tac boots when I train heavy on legs or deadlifts. the 3 inch steel shank gives lots of arch support and the ankle support and comfort is numero uno. :)
other than that its just Nike's or something

There you go. Why do you care what other people wear in the gym, unless it's a hot babe in a thong?

i lift 3 days a week and for 2 of those days im in bare feet for back and leg day...well i should say just with socks on........the other day is regular sneakers........

Same guys at my gym who shadow box after doing thier 8th biciep wokout of the night.

I actually saw a guy shodow dribbling a couple weeks ago. Thats right, no basketball but seemed to be making some good moves. :)

I'm in a plant 40-60 hrs. a week. When I leave, I'm not wearing steel-toes again untill the next day at work...although, I work for OSHA, and it would probably lower the insurance for gyms if they required members to wear steel-toes...

a bit off the steel toe topic but theres aguy at the gym I go to squats and deads in bare feet no socks or fuck all

what about all the BBers who spend a bunch of money on gym wear..?its the same thing...i believe its an attention thing....
There was a bunch a Bbers at the gym with all there work out gear...pretty much a fashion show....
IMO...there nothing better than watching someone do reps with 600+ buried the way there supposed to be....and yes I've worn work boots to squat before.....I've tried expensive squat platform shoes but they had no ankle or lateral support either...

I saw a guy wearing open toed Sandals Thursday of last week he was a pretty big guy but besides being big now I am also convinced he is Nuts too! But to each there own I guess!
