Many people say that sprinting is a great way to shed fat. WHy is that? It doesn't last that long and yet people are getting great results.
I love sprinting but limit to 2x week. It feels GOOD to kick my own ass

Cardio burns fat while you're doing it. Sprinting burns fat long after.
You can rip/heal/grow from sprinting, just like weight training.
Here's another light bulb for ya: Powerlifting is like sprinting. Heavy/intense, explosive, short. Whatdya know...I grow like a weed and get leaner and leaner powerlifting.
