Why nobody with an IQ higher than 50 can take the GOP seriously these days...

I would rather a plan have stretch goals than one that keeps things the status quo

Claiming that this "stretches goals" is a stretch.

Something resembling realistic expectations (eg the Bowles-Simpson plan) would be superior.

Once you believe the complete lie that Obamacare will actually reduce the deficit, anything is possible.

lol @ 2.8%

50? I think that IQ rating is a bit high for taking the GOP seriously.

the GOP really has been eating itself the last few years...which is genuinely a shame its going to hell
the imbalance if it really implodes would be terrible

It really imploded last November.

yeah...only the majority of the repubs that were elected in...are complete fucking morons...to be fair..the democratic governor that was elected in here that replaced our republican governor is also a complete fucking moron

extreme right or left is just absurd

The choices all around are shit so far from what I've seen.

Obama is a fucking train wreck, and quite frankly you can't afford any spendy democrat...and probably won't be able to for quite some time.

Palin is a joke, and Romney lacks charisma.

Sadly, the best potential candidate based on what I've heard so far might be Trump; he's the only one with the balls to put forth a REAL plan on tackling the trade defecit/financial shellacking situation with China, and he has the best plan for what to do with Iraq.

If I were an American, based on what I've seen and heard so far, I'd vote for Trump if he ran.

Given the financial reality for the USA, you NEED extreme right...because that's where the fiscal conservatives are going to reside. If you could somehow get one that removed religion from the equasion, you'd have the perfect leader for the times.

The rest of the world sees this, but we're in such denial at home that many/most American's don't.

We'll need a financial meltdown before we actually do anything. Maybe California defaulting on its obligations will be a good object lesson for the rest of the country.

I actually dont disagree....the american public cant handle higher taxes on everything to pay for this bullshit..this is what the moron dem is trying to pull in ct

and if religion were removed from the gop...and youth infused ...I think theyd be right (no pun) to work on this...
but they refuse to let go of puritan views...and theyre aging poorly

Sure I can see unemployment figures being that low...because nobody will be able to collect it anymore due to having gone over the 99 week limit. Unemployment figures are cooked. They don't count the people that can't collect but are still unemployed. The real figures is over 20%.

Given the financial reality for the USA, you NEED extreme right...because that's where the fiscal conservatives are going to reside.

Fiscal conservatives with any common sense tend to reside in the middle.

Fiscal conservatives who buy into this bullshit (from the same organization that claimed last year that unemployment would be at 4.2% provided we extended the Bush tax cuts oololllloololol) we would be best ignoring.

I like the guys who bought the bullshit that if we didn't waste nearly one trillion dollars on pet democratic causes, unemployment would rise over 8%.

That sure worked well.

How are those guys fiscal conservatives?

Once you believe the complete lie that Obamacare will actually reduce the deficit, anything is possible.

Actually, it WOULD reduce the deficit significantly over the next few years. How? Because everyone who is sick, will die before they get approved for care, and county funerals are cheaper than most medical treatments :worried: . Only problem is that people who believe in paying for things and not expecting the government to take care of you free, will have to go to Panama or Costa Rica if they want to find a good American doctor.

^^^ costa rica has universal healthcare and the doctors in the US already suck for the most part. the med schools are run by pharma companies and they are thought 2 things. either drug your patient or cut them open. they do not teach them proper nutrition and exercise.

obamacare stops insurance companies from denying preexisting conditions to people (or in my case being able to upgrade from my catastrophic plan to a better plan if something happens to me where i need more benefits) and keeping kids insured until they are old enough to leave the nest.. but i didn't expect you to know the facts based on your prior posts on here.

we will see how fast those old farts that vote GOP in droves get pissed when they go to check their mail on the 15th and their social security check isn't there when the GOP shutdowns the government.

they already are slashing cops, firefighters, and teachers already shitty salaries in FL.. a guy who paints schools in FL now makes more then teachers who have masters degrees.

That is a spectacularly incorrect and misinformed statement.

How are those guys fiscal conservatives?

They aren't.

But it also doesn't change the fact that the ridiculous target described in the OP is certainly no less ridiculous than the steady stream of crap that Barry has been spewing at us over the last few years.

Yet another misconception being perpetuated by the left.

Social Security checks will keep coming but parks will be closed - The Oval: Tracking the Obama presidency

You're either intentionally trying to mislead people or you just don't search out the facts on your own.

a guy who paints schools in FL now makes more then teachers who have masters degrees.

What do you mean "now makes more"? LOL! That guy has always made more. I knew a guy 15 years ago who was a teacher with a Masters. He started a window cleaning business one summer and got so busy he had to hire help. By the next summer he quit his teaching job as his business had already replaced that income and then some...even with having to pay employees.

I'm no fan of Obama, but I can't recall the last time he said raising taxes would make the unemployment rate drop 2% in a single year, or that "stimulus" spending would force the unemployment rate down to level that considered lower than possible in this country within 5 years.

When it comes to the degree of bullshit being spread, the GOP takes the cake.

Blah blah blah. The title of this thread should read "Nobody with an IQ higher than 50 should take either political party seriously."

Anybody taking either side is ridiculous. You're right, the current government is fucking things up right now, but you're nuts if you think things would be any better if the GOP was in control. The state of our economy was already fucked before Obama came into office, with 8 years prior of a Republican in office. The state of the U.S. is the fault of both parties. Neither one has been able to do shit about it.

Both sides royally screwed us and neither side is going to fix it any time soon with all this extremism going around.

Afeedz does speak teh truth.

and...the GOP would like to cut medicare...brilliant...way to piss off their voting base

Oh come on, you don't expect anyone around here to know what the fuck they're talking about do you?

yes, this is our behind the scenes world leaders...where everyone has all of the worlds problems solved...including the US budget

and...the GOP would like to cut medicare...brilliant...way to piss off their voting base

Obamacare calls for a $500B in Medicare, then he re-spends the money immediately on Medicaid. Then he starts doing victory laps on how he's saving Medicare.

And know who is the most retarded? It's the American public. They don't bother to look behind him and the media bullshit, so they're going to get what they deserve.

Why am I like this RedSam you speak of?

Not you.

Redsam was a master of making a bold statement, then contradicting himself either directly or indirectly by agreeing with someone else.

Im not saying it doesn't need some trimming...or that the dems have their act anymore together...

what I'm saying is the GOP is royally fucking thmselves with the people that vote for them.

You're worse than a woman, if someone doesn't agree with you, you think they're arguing with you.

All we have to do to fix the economy is lower the tax rate on the wealthiest Americans to 25%.

Boehner is a fucking genius. :faint:

Weigel : GOP/Ryan Budget Analysis Predicts 2.8 Percent Unemployment by 2021

Not only will this budget plan magically reduce unemployment by 2% within a single year, but it will result in unemployment in the US going lower than it has ever been before...3% lower than the average rate and lowest rate compatible for price stability.

lol
I think you're grabbing the low hanging fruit with the thread title...

Yeah, politicians make outrageous claims. Candidate Obama was against any military intervention that wasn't of vital US interest. He also swore all U.S. troops would be out of Iraq (U.S. troops will be in Iraq when he leaves office)....He ran as bizaro Bush. In his first two years he has killed more women and children with drone strikes in an undeclared war in Pakistan than Bush did in two terms (Pakistan and Yemen)

You should broaden the thread title to say something like, "Anyone that votes for someone running for POTUS with a D or R after their name is a retard" because they get exactly the same no matter how they cast their vote. After all, the Bush tax cuts for the rich are now the Obama tax cuts for the rich, Bush was said to be beholden to big oil and Haliburton while Obama is said to be beholden to wall street and GE,gitmo is open indefinitely...on and on...

You're worse than a woman, if someone doesn't agree with you, you think they're arguing with you.

It amuses me that you'd use your own gender as the basis for an insult.

Self-loathe much? I think so.

Yeah, we sure wouldn't want that cash being wasted on plants, equipment, businesses or jobs when it could be invested in campaign contribution payoffs, SEIU and propping-up the ponzi schemes we call Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Redsam? Is that you???

Nice try.

The first comment you posted is completely true.

The second comment is one I've mentioned more than once on these boards.

Most importantly, one doesnt negate the other.

Damn, you really are taking this Redsam impersonation to the limit.

But... "you"... need a lot.... more.... misplaced... ellipses... and... some "seriously" run....on sentances and mispellings... and some .... "quotes"... to really pull... it... "off"... don't get... me wrong... its entertaining and... stuff... and don't... forget... "the"... bouncing... "LoL's".... either.

I'll go through the steps of explaining it to you, but you've got to ask nicely and include at least three "..."'s and some quotation marks first.

If anything, I would be a substitute for Jebus himself.

Is there any indication that the tax rate on the wealthiest individuals has any effect at all on business and infrastructure investment?

I mean, apart from the total economic collapse of Post-WWII America when there was no growth of business and industry at all because of the 90% top tax rate...

I'm pretty sure if the rest of the entire world were bombed flat and all the US resources were left intact, we'd have another post WWII-style boom while we rebuilt them.

It's funny how liberals conveniently overlook the fact that the rest of the world was in rubble and we converted our war machine into a rebuilding machine for a few decades.

That's an interesting spin. It wasn't exports and rebuilding war-torn Europe that bolstered up our economy. Heck most of those countries had huge tariffs on American goods. Our prosperity post-WWII was almost entirely domestic in origin.

And the sky-high taxes didn't seem to slow it down.

But now our economy is based mostly on intangibles.

Don't sell yourself short. I think you're an outstanding substitute for Redsam in a number of ways.

What's to spin?

Name one other economy in the world post WWII in a position to compete with us. Who would the closest one be?

Redsam had some massive vibrams to fill lol

What does that have to do with anything? Compete for what?

We came out of the war prosperous and fat, and domestic demand and a baby boom created an economy which expanded despite confiscatory tax rates. So why is it now necessary to lower the top rate to 25% like the House wants to do? The idea that this will suddenly free up investment money which will fuel a recovery is laughable.

Where do you think the rest of the world got its food? What about steel, machinery and other necessary items? We didn't live in a vacuum back then nor do we live in one now.

And be careful with your "confiscatory" taxes back then -- there were plenty of ways out of and around those taxes.

Can you please explain to me how to get around some of today's taxes for small business owners without getting into trouble, thanks

Goes both ways. Here's some points to ponder brought about by the lib movement-

What has America become?

Has American become the land of the double standard?

Lets see:

-If we lie to the Congress, it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us, its just politics

-If we dislike a black person we're racist, and if a black person dislikes whites, its their 1st Amendment right

-The government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims

-In public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process

-You can kill an unborn child, but it is wrong to execute a mass murderer

-We don't burn books in America, we now rewrite them

-We got rid of communist and socialist threats by renaming them "progressive"

-We are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea

-If you protest against President Obama's policies you're a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your 1st Amendment right

-You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas

-We have eliminated all criminals in America, they are now called sick people

-We can use a human fetus for medical research, but it is wrong to use an animal

-We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don't want to work

-We all support the Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology; we still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct

-Parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games

-The land of opportunity is now the land of hand outs

-The similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help

-And how do we handle a major crisis today?
The government appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises our taxes and tells us the problem is solved so they can get back to their re-election campaign.

What has happened to the land of the free and home of the brave?

Today the little guy is screwed when it comes to reducing tax burden.

Larger companies do it with foreign subsidiaries. It traps the profits overseas, but if you do sales, manufacturing and purchase capital it can all balance out.

GE does a masterful job at this. Between foreign subsidiaries and crony capitalism, they payed negative taxes this year.

What is under reported...the number of corporations that don't have the capitol to pay for lobbyists or start a government favored business, who end up paying the 40% rate.

Before Microsoft was targeted by the government for an anti-trust suit..funded by taxpayers...they spent $0.00 lobbying congress. They spent hundreds of millions of potential shareholder wealth and innovation to defend against a lawsuit they won. Since the anti trust suit they have spent hundreds of millions lobbying congress....they have been left alone.

That brings us to a more interesting scenario....the explosion of lobbyists has shown that the ROI in lobbying congress is better than going to the private market or investing it in growing your business.

The part that I find interesting about your quote is that I don't see that as a left or right thing, but a product of where we are and of the released Corporate controls.

For example:

- If we lie to the Congress, it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us, its just politics
I can see this prevalent in the last three fights (Afghans, Libya, and Iraq).

-If you protest against President Obama's policies you're a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your 1st Amendment right
You forget that the people burning the flags during the Bush area were also called terrorists.

-Parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games
Parenting has gone to shit because people aren't paid well enough to make a living wage and take care of their kids. People are paid shit because it's too way to easy to ship jobs overseas. Both parties have made this possible.

See? It would seem that you blame one. I blame both.

Personally, I don't get it. It speaks volumes about you, but meh. You don't really care either way. :D
