I agree---fiction does, in fact, make the better read, but only from a leisurely, passive, imaginative standpoint. I was a literature major and developed a great appreciation for many many genres of lit. But, even the best novels, works of fiction, are usually set against reality and the common, real themes of love, passion, and hatred, etc.

Thus, the truth still lurks in even the best works of fiction.

Fiction does come from imagination, but do you really believe that anything is more profound than the truth? The truth---reality---we must deal with whereas fiction allows us to escape into another world through imagination.

At the end of the day, it's the truth which is most alarming and arouses our passions most.
