Why doesn't my IE work properly?

I have DSL and it seems to work O.K. for Netscape but for some reason IE has slowed down considerably. It keeps saying "Detecting proxy server" in the bottom left corner and it takes forever to load a page. Can anyone help?

Tools-> Internet Options ->Connections -> LAN Settings

Uncheck "Use proxy sever......"
Check "Automatically detect settings"
Click OK, Apply

Pimp C,

I tried that but it didn't work. I don't know what's going on. Even Netscape seems slower than it should. I think I'll give my provider a call to make sure everything is O.K. on their end (it should be since this has been going on for a day). Any other ideas?
