Why do women expect you to buy them flowers?

And what makes you go in to debt and then wonder how you got there.

How much do you spend on going out and drinking? Or, on going to the movies, or gas in your car, new clothes, eating out? It's ridiculous to say that buying a $2 card and writing a sweet note in it and slipping it underneath your girls pillow for her to find or spending $10-15 on a semi-regular basis for roses is going to break you.

Get real cheap ass. I just bought two dozen candy cane roses for $14.99 per doz. a card for $2 and a balloon that said "thinking about you" for $3 and left it sitting on my girls front porch in a large gift bag that cost $4. The satisfaction I recieved from hearing her voice on the phone telling me she had a long day but the flowers made everything better and her feel like she wanted to melt inside was absolutely priceless. The fact that it cost me $40 is absolutely beside the point.

Maybe your thought process should be less focused on why women expect you to do things and more on trying to find someone that naturally brings that out in you? Because whenever you do find someone you care about, thoughts and expressions of caring and love will feel much more natural and easier to show.

No, I guess I'm just a cheap bastard. I think all that shit is silly when there are people in the world who don't have enough to eat. Just feed me, fuck me, and shut up and I"m happy. No need for flowers or useless gifts.

Flowers make a nice decoration in a room and also show that you care. If you are complaining about spending $5 for a dozen roses every couple of weeks, then you're a cheap fuck - sorry to report.

Try doing something special for your girl one day and the reaction will be well worth the money. I drove through a maze of narrow streets one day to leave a balloon on my girl's car at work - a simple balloon!!! The reaction was well worth the drive. Don't tell me a few bucks for some flowers is out of your budget.

So, you have to buy somebody something to show you care. I see they've done a good job of brainwashing us in this consumer society.

YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING. THERE ARE MILLIONS OF DEAD POOR PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD WHO ARE A HELL OF A LOT HAPPIER THAN PEOPLE WITH MONEY. TRUST ME ON THAT ONE.

GET A PENCIL AND A PIECE OF PAPER. WRITE A LITTLE POEM OR SOMETHING. DRAW A FUNNY PICTURE ON IT. GO PICK HER A FLOWER FROM A GARDEN AND GIVE IT TO HER. NONE OF THAT COSTS ANYTHING YET STILL SHOWS YOU CARE. ITS SIMPLE. THATS ALL THEY WANT.

SHE SHOULDNT EXPECT ANYTHING AT ALL. AND YOU SHOULDNT BE DOING IT CUZ YOU THINK SHE EXPECTS IT. ITS WEIRD. SHE SHOULD KNOW YOU CARE BY THE LITTLE THINGS BUT SHE SHOULDNT EXPECT THEM. HOWEVER, YOU MUST DO THE LITTLE THINGS TO SHOW YOU CARE SO SHE DOESNT START EXPECTING THEM. IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THAT.

Personally, I would rather have someone pick me flowers than buy me flowers. It is the thought, not the money that counts. Kayne is right, the poem and the little flower would make me melt in a second. That would mean more to me than 5 dozen long stem roses any day. Anyone can swipe a credit card, it takes effort and thought to do something like that.

THERE YOU HAVE IT BITEME, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE LADIES MOUTH. LITTLE THINGS FROM THE HEART MEAN A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN EXPENSIVE GIFTS. THEY ARE GENUINE. MOST MONEY BOUGHT GIFTS ARENT.

I buy fresh flowers often when I'm at the supermarket, but my daughter goes outside and picks flowering weeds for me and those are more beautiful than anything I could purchase.

When a guy does something unexpected, like a little note or flowers, it's just showing that he was thinking of the girl and wanted her to know that. It's certainly not a money thing that the girl appreciates...it's the fact that she was being thought of in a caring way when she wasn't even around.

O.k. Thanks everyone, and it must be true what they say about me, I'm a cheap bastard. But I don't mind picking flowers and writing poems and drawing(although I can barely draw a stickman). :)

I GUESS IT'S BECAUSE IT'S THE TRADITIONAL THING TO DO OVER EONS OF TIME.

About the whole card thing that was mentioned earlier... It was just my best friends birthday and instead of buying her a card, I made her one on my computer that consisted of pictures of us together and a little saying. It was very obvious it was home made. At the end of the night, all the other cards got trashed along with the wrapping paper, my card is sitting up in her room and made her cry when she got it. I seriously spent 2 cents and 10 min. on something that made her so happy she cried. That kind of stuff means more to women than you could ever imagine.
