Why do some of you people believe in God??

Garza, you sound reasonable...even if you have refered to the Bible, now...what do you mean by God? Do you not find the trinity contradictory? What exactly has helped you? and do you really think that false religions....that you get a kick out of...are of less value...serious question mate.

Hey, I don't know your standpoin on this but anyway....

What I mean by God is the one who is referred to in the Bible. I do not believe in the trinity, I am not AGAINST them but the trinity is usually represented by the Catholic church...i'm not a catholic. I also belive that if God is a supreme being then there cannot be three of them. I'm not trying to debate anything. And I realize most trinitarians get upset when we say that they blieve in 3 gods, becusae they do not. Just look in the bible there are many scriptures that suggest that there is only one God. Jesus the son, God the Father, and the Holy Ghost (The spirit of God) are all one. God is a spirit, and if God is a spirit, and the Holy Ghost, is the spirit of God, then they are one in the same, right? I can go into more detail but I have to go. Pm me if you want to know anymore things.

Oh yeah, other religions, like i said I don't claim to be a christian you know, but I don't really knwo about other religions, I haven't seen any of them. I know of some buddhists who evidently don't put alot of faith into their religion, but that doesnt mean its false. Like I say I don't know.

I believe 100% in god. I dont think everything could have worked out the way it did . Thats what i believe and no scientist can change my mind.

What I believe is that god is a light that is full of love and forgiveness. God put us on this earth for a reason. To love and forgive others. Life is a series of lessons.

Also how do you explain Near Death Experiences especially of one women that was blind and could see her own body on the emergency table?

Freakmonster...thank 'god' an answer...Damn that was a waste of thread...no you have not defined a thing...near death experiences show that the senses, the spirit or as I would call it bio-megnetic-electro-chemical energy can transcend the standard physical restrictions we impose in this asect of this singular plain..they do not prove the existence of god...now that is fairly obvious...or are waves on the ocean surface caused by leprechauns...?

I have had OOBE, AP and near death....I still do not accept that these experiences prove the existence of god in the classical sense...if god is the light for instacne...what do you mean by that? Worship light bulbs? Of course not...am I ignorant...well of course I am but I am admitting it and pursueing knowledge where as you are talking clap trap and have not thought out your arguments...now give me something I can't answer rationally and I will concede.

I believe lots of crazy things i have little evidence for, especially when i am more mentally ill (hey just ask my friends and relatives )

On the spectrum of all things i have more evidence that God exists and loves me than that some of the people i thought were my closest friends do...

That's not exactly a defense. I'm just putting it in perspective with the Christians who said i can't e-mail them and i am not a Christian at all and i can't go to their Bible study and so on...that kinda stuff.

Garza - yeah you are so right except the HS is more like a Person than an 'it' - the HS is the Helper, Healer, Counselor & Teacher of us all...that's what i believe...those people who said to Elijah "It's not God it's you!!!" I'd say - it seems like you but really it is the Holy SPirit . Of course they won't believe me but that's ok because the HS doesn't give up helping people just because they say that sort of thing... - that's my belief anyway.

I believe

I believe in God. Faith is believing in someone or something that you cannot prove through emperical analysis. It does not bother me that some think i am weak for believing. As has been stated before, religion and christianity are not the same. i do disagree with many that organized religion is a scam. Some are. Most are sincerely trying to reach out to others while maintaining the body of believers. Churches are necessary to help believers grow. Every christian should be part of a body of christ wheather it is a formally recognized religion or a small group of friends with similar beliefs. it is good to question your christianity. Only through testing your faith will it grow stronger. This is not the same as testing God. As for those who doubt God because of the injustices on this earth, god does not cause pain, death, misery, injustice, etc. He simply helps give you the stength to deal with the situtations and the promise that there will someday be peace.

Hmmm, maybe it ain't the Christians who believe in the real God, maybe it's the Muslims, they say that anyone who doesn't believe in their God goes to hell and they are the only ones who get to go to heaven. Would be pretty stupid for all those Christians who thought they were the only ones allowed into heaven if that were true weren't it? Or maybe it's the Jehova's Witnesses who believe in the real God - they have a strong claim on exclusivity of heaven for them. Who knows, maybe it's the Mormons or the Jews, maybe it's you maybe it's me, maybe we're all screwed...
