Why do some of you people believe in God??

I just got to this thread and it seems that most of you are debating on a topic that you don't even know about.
I am not a bible thumper or trying to shove religious shit down anyone's throat. I just like telling it how it really is.
Most of you are so blinded by all the negativity on this earth that you really don't know what the true meaning of life on earth is. Have you ever asked yourself what is the purpose of my life on this earth? Pick up a bible and it will tell you the road map to eternal life. It explains why everything is the way it really is.

And those people and churches out there that are in it for the money like Jim Baker are false prophets. There is a scripture in the bible that states that you will run into false prophets that will try and mislead you, take advantage of you and take your money.

The bible was written by some 40 different men over a period of 1,600 yrs., beginning in 1513 B.C.E. It is made up of 66 little books. Those who wrote the Bible were inspired by God. They wrote his thoughts, not their own. So God in Heaven, not any human on earth, is the Author of the Bible. God made sure the Bible was accurately copied and preserved. More bibles have been printed than any other book. Not everyone will be happy to see you studying the Bible, but do not let that stop you.

I leave you with one question. Can you think of one thing that is created by God that is evil or harming to a human being?

Now Pay Attention

Until you define God and Spirituality you are not going anywhere with this. Right at the begginning of the thread, someone wisely said, you come to and find your own god...well that's damn wise and I go with it...none of us has the right to argue this point from the position of our religions, it is both dogmatic and pointless and is no more wise than dissing religion through science.
So, as I can't set the record straight without being a hypocrite and being there...lets look at what we can say about people.
1) If you do not understand quantum theory yourself don't diss it. It is still in its infancy and is a wonderfully beautiful, complex picture that is steadily forming into a marvelous whole. If you know nothing of it then shut up you have no right to judge quantum theory.
2) You cannot or we cannot say one religion, for instance Christianity, which is rife on this board has anymore value with regard its definition or beliefs in god than that of the Muslims or anyone else.
3) Are we talking about the rational definition of God that was sort by the Greeks or the ineffable experience of rapture experienced by the Sufis? If you can't do that, then you don't know your history and should not spout dogmatic christian clap trap.
4) If you know that St Paul is actually Saul, a Turkish soldier who had persecuted the Jews for 17 years for the Romans prior to compiling the bible 60 years after the death of Jesus we have a whole new conspiracy theory based on anti-semetecism.
5) Some one mentioned the Big Bang and evolution; the Big Bang theory has been advanced upon and the model is more like a 'pulsing' universe than just one expanding one. Evolution for many is still a theory and does have some holes in it or rather, reqires some refinement. Again, I would say the same thing about the new and old testaments. What has the most evidence to support it? Evolution or some mighty consciousness clicking its fingers and bringing everything into exiestence? You can't take something you do not understand and find say just 1 hole in it, in order to prove somehting that has no evidence supporting it whatever. That is just plain unreasonable.

I would go on but I think it is pointless; I will give you an opinion...please, religious fanatics, just read it and see if you can see my point?? Please.

The religious experience can only be anecdotal. Science is not and demands proofs. As such, a subjective experience (that is, Sufistic Rapture, for instance) cannot be shared and thus is beyond proof. To take an internalised proof and spread this as Tenet, Covenant, Law etc is to persue dogma and one mans truth and therefore one mans interpretation of 'god', for everyone. You cannot do this when religious experience is so subjective. Neither can any of us judge anothers right to dismiss or believe; not unless we are certain we have neither deluded ourselves or have become the only rational being on the planet. To take what is anecdotal and realise its quality is inneffable is a step beyond science and is the hardest to make. To try to rationalise god as the Greeks indeed tried, is to try and compromise god and science with our lust for rational balance and understanding, neither is complete so we should make room for each other...after all, its the only christian thing to do....

Listen to that small inner voice in your thoughts; it is the voice of God.

Our soul is a part of God and God is a part of us; therefore, our souls are immortal and eternal.

Hardships are necessary for the growth of our soul.

Those born with mental or physical afflictions are more spiritually advanced than others, born to help others evolve spiritually.

The physical body the spirit enters is chosen prior to birth.

If an addiction isn't conquered before your physical death, it could keep your spirit earthbound.

Earth is only one plane of learning; there are many.

Hell is a state of being we create by being away from God until we choose to return to Him. It is a state totally devoid of love.

All you do and think is known to God, and God understands everything perfectly, and loves everyone just the same.

All pain we feel or cause is felt by God.

In order to become one with God, work must be done to remember or find the truth. The truth is this: your true self is a spirit and your spirit is one with God.

Love, being God, is too immense and profound to ever be fully understood or experienced in the physical world.

The universe is God's cathedral.

God created differences in religion because of the different lessons we all need to learn.

When you do unto others, you do unto God and yourself.

The beginning of all sin is seeing self as separate from others and God.

There are only two "true" religions - the religion of love and the religion of fear.

Communication in the spiritual world is telepathic. Your thoughts are answered as rapidly as your mind can send and receive them.

When you die, everything you have said, thought, or done will be known by all.

There are no secrets in the afterlife.

Spirits with evil thoughts avoid the Light because they are too ashamed to have their life revealed.

Spirits with like thoughts are drawn to each other in the afterlife.

God's paradise for us is Love. We can create paradise again if we learn to love one another as ourselves.

There is one God who is worshipped through many different teachings of many different religious faiths.

The gods of one faith are the angels, saints, or supernatural beings of other faiths.

In the search for truth and understanding, all paths lead to Love.

God is Love, Light, and the energy in all. God is the source of perfect Love and all life.

God loves and forgives you, and expects you to love and forgive others.

The only thing that lives forever is Love.

Freakmonster, you either did not understand what I just said or you are too indoctrinated to appreciate argument/discussion. God is love is like saying, spaghetti is Quala lumpa...tottally meaningless. Unless, of course, you understand what you said, in which case your god is an anecdotal appreciation of your position with regard your god...what you have just done is chuck a load of indoctrinated clap trap for the rest of us in our face and expect us to go 'yeah man that is sooooo cool'.

What shocks me is that we post our threads to see what happens and then we ignore what anyone says...it is not one-up-man-ship but even a Christian or Bhuddist or whomever should be able to make a reasonable argument without resorting to just spouting...please. If you want to convert someone, this is probably the wrong place and if you want to talk nonesene there are also better places but, please, don't argue with stuff that you have had no thoughts about in your tiny lives!

Argue the experience of god, what you personally mean by god and we may get somewhere but this crap, that can only make sense once it is accepted is neither rational or thought provoking indeed, you manifest ignorance.

You wanna debate...learn to argue.

Ahm but freak monster, you could have been taking the piss in which case you did get a rise out of me and for that I appreciate where you are coming from.

Were you ever on Saturday Night Live?

I agree that most religion is a bunch of lies and decievers. Many preachers set up churches just to make a living, they just want your money, I agree.

But now more than ever, I believe in God. I believe he helps me through things that I could not normally go through myself...whatever it may be. If you have ever experienced the spirit of God you will know how I feel. Read about the Holy spirit or the "Holy Ghost" in the bible. It is certainly real.

I think alot of you have had bad experiences with churches, churches and a relationship with God are two totally separate things. Just becuase a church is out for your money does not mean God is out to decieve you. I have been "had" by churches too. I go there pay tithes, and then when I decide to leave no one cares enough to call...its dissapointing.

Just remember God...the oen spoken of in the Bible...is out there. Don't confuse God with mindless religion.

Garza, you sound reasonable...even if you have refered to the Bible, now...what do you mean by God? Do you not find the trinity contradictory? What exactly has helped you? and do you really think that false religions....that you get a kick out of...are of less value...serious question mate.

I do most definitely believe in God. I have felt His presence in my life many times over. He has spoken to me without words, and he has Healed me with His touch.
Human beings may mistake His message and misinterpret it, and misuse it, but that doesn't negate His being and His presence.

Weapon X...is it too much too ask why you associate certain feelings to God? No one seems to be able to address a simple questiion round here so I am asking....why do assocaite whatever it is with the touch or hand of God? I don't think I am being unreasonable but as usual, no one knows how to argue constructively....or wants to....

I refer to feelings why I do not seem to be able to attribute to any physical causes, and they are mostly brought on by methods which people have been recommending for thousands of years as ways of contacting God.
