Why do so many Americans have this grin attitude to the EU?

I honestly think the EU is a great idea for several reasons.
1. It will eliminate regional infighting and the potential for regional conflicts.
2. It brings about a greater economies of scale to a very productive region.
3. This brings about greater trade opportunities within the EU and with trade partners.

I have no beef with the EU, but I think its going to go to shit when Turkey joins. And you know they will eventually. :chomp:

LOL

I dont think "most Americans" know about or care anything for the EU.

If you were refewrencing my previous posts in your analysis, keep in mind that I have never said that the EU wont work or lacks benefits to its member states.

What I have said is that it was conceived in no small measure precisely to act as a counterweight to the perceived threat of the US. Of course these are the same french scumbags who earlier tried to reach accomodations with the Soveit Union for the rule of Western Europe back in the 50's.

In short, I dont care about the EU. But I do care when people in my country operate under the delusion that most of Europe wants to be "our friend", and if we only acted a little nicer things would be oh so swell. It is time Americans came to the realization that allowing the nitwits in Europe to guide our national policies is a recipe for disaster. They are not our friends, nor is it important that they are.

Western European culture will become nonexistent in this century. Old Europe is dying, and will soon be replaced regardless of what transpires. They fail to recognize the fundamentla flaws in their system. Coupling together a bunch of weak and dying nations will not preserve them, just make certain they all go down more simultaneously than would have occured otherwise.

whats an EU?
and did you mean "grim" not "grin"?

And the European identity is indeed strongly taking over the national identity.

I just wonder what this, condescending attitude to the whole thing is supposed to mean. I'm optimistic about this big plan to unite Europe further.

others have been optimistic about uniting Europe as well, notably Hitler and Stalin.

Europe and its disunited peoples have given us the bloodiest of wars throughout history.

The only thing that appears to unite Europe today is dislike of the US. The idea of a unifying common enemy is not new.

We're not impressed. yet. :)

LOL

And then they blame us when their media elties have tried to turn the US into the nemesis for the pasts everal decades to justify the relinquishment of national soveriegnty and identity to the masses

1 What are the "fundamental flaws" in our system that we fail to recognise?

2 How is the EU a bunch of "weak and dying nations"?

3 What gives you the arrogance to judge a whole continent as nitwits?

4 The French of now are in fact not the same people as those in the 50s. People die.

Sums up Americans well: Ignorant of everything but their own " little" world.

As far as Americans are concerned there is nothing outside the confines of their own country

I think this aspect of American thinking is blown out of proportion. with a country its size its not strange they dont look outside of it that frequently.

If you view europe as one entity, we are pretty closed minded all the same.

They have teeth like these.
