specifically preacher curls and things of that nature. it's not bad at all on hammer curls though. it's really weird and irritating because i almost cant finish sometimes. some days when i do arms it's not bad but on others it's brutal. anyone know whats up?

Do you cheat slightly when you do curls?

I wonder whether when you do preacher curls, because it restricts cheating, the only accessory muscle your body tries to activate are ur forearms if you are otherwise use to cheating.

This is just a wild guess though - it does seem strange (unless of course reverse preacher curls)

I used to have this issue..................until read an article about leaving the palms open when contracting the bicep instead of rolling them over. At the top of the rep now my palms face the ceiling and I feel the rep in my bicep only now. Amazing difference.

I had the same problem, I quit using strait bars for awhile and it eventually went away. It will stop hurting, just work thru it. I know thats easier said than done, cause mine felt like they were ripping sometimes, but it will stop after a while. Dont know what causes it, but its pretty common among lifters.

zigzag bar = ez bar. This does help somewhat but generally speaking your bi's are stronger then your forearms and your only as strong as your weakest link sooooooo, thats why they are hurting. Just work them more and dont cheat and you will get over it. Make sure you are getting full extension on the preachers to, not the bullshit bend arm to 90* then back up, im talking arms fully extended then back up. If you are not doing them like this already your gonna drop weight like CRAZY on your curls because they are that much harder but after a month or 2 of doing them the right way your bis will be ALOT stronger.

+1

Work around it until you have the forearm strength to do other movements. Additionally, I would suggest adding forearm exercises on arm days if they are lagging that far behind.

no i don't cheat (except sometimes on the last couple reps of my last set), my arms are almost straight when i go down. i have used the ez curl bar to no avail. however i've never tried the palm open thing or the incline dumbbell. i'll give those a go and if that don't work i'll give my forearms a break for a little bit and just do pull ups with palms facing backward. thanks for your ideas guys.

this can be cause by either rolling ur wrists inward....or you could be trying to squeeze the shit outta the bar. i used to have this problem than i started loosing up my grip almost like an open palm but still able to hold the bar /dumbells. did this for a few weeks and pain went away. it got so bad that i was getting shooting pains up my forearms when i let go of the bar.

I dont no if this is the same as what you mean but when I first started lifting barbells I used to get a pain in the outside bone of my forearm, as if I was twisting it... is yours anything like that?

whats happens is you get tendonitis....where the muscle tissues connects to the bone in ur forearm. thats what causes the pain and shooting intensity. not fun at all and a PITA to get rid of.
