If you re-read the ORIGNAL article posted on this page, you will find that the author offers lifting as a better alternative to cardio. He uses that point THROUGHOUT his article. ...For the next few pages after the article, people argued about cardio vs. weightlifting, cardio vs. diet, and colorful opinions of the author...
As far as the article I posted from AJCN, other (much older and widely known) research shows people with more muscle DO burn fat faster than the average person....I can post some articles about the research if you want to read them, but I thought that point was blatently obvious to everyone who knew anything about biology. A resonable conslusion from that is that lifting will be more effective at burning fat than cardio will.
I hope this has made things more clear.
