Who was at Tru?

just wondering if anyone from this board was at Club Tru saturday--it was so much fun--didnt leave till 12 noon!!

no problem--here goes!

well arrived with my crew around 4, it was sooo crowded, every floor and every inch of the dancefloor was packed. i started buggin out a bit, so we went outside to the deck area. That was cool, they had a really good DJ that was playing slower, groovier house, much more relaxed atmosphere, pretty crowded out there too. Tommy boy was DJ'ing Studio Six until about 5, and he was awesome, i like his style more than Jason E's. TJ the DJ was just blowing it up (as usual) over in Tru, he is incredible. Once DJ Jason E came on over in Studio, stuff just got ridiculous. There were these 2 girls that were dancing on the top block with just their thongs on, causing a complete scene, lol. I was dancin balls all night, having the best time, just going back and forth between Tru and Studio. It was crowded for the longest time, and there were still a lot of people there when we left at 12. *** I highly recommend everyone to go to Tru August 17th for TJ's birthday, he'll be DJ'ing Tru AND Studio!!!!!! i cant wait!

--if i remember anything else worth mentioning then ill add it on--bits and pieces are slowly coming back, hehe

too scared to go there instead of SF. If its not broke don't fix it y'know? What kind of crowd? What was admission?

I think you would like it there--i mean, there's no other way i can describe the crowd except as your typical crazy clubber crowd. You have everything from beatiful models/strippers, to the cracked out losers, lol. im usually on the guest list, so admission is free, but from what i remember its $15 or $20 reg. admission, for special events i think its $25. its definetly an experience, a great night to go would be August 17th like i said, TJ the DJ is awesome, and he will blow the roof off for his b-day party. Sound systems are great there too, try to check it out!

Mrs. Tony...i have to agree i had some fun on saturday night, but it wasn't TJ ripping it up in Tru, it was Guido, the guest dj from nyc....he played one of the best sets i have ever heard played in Tru...TJ came on at 6am and played the same stuff that was being played by Jason E in studio (which i don't understand), why have 2 clubs when the same hard, i want to commit suicide music is playing in both places???...TJ is playing the same music he played back in 1999!!!....

anyway, if it wasn't for Guido, i would have been really upset...the people looked like they were let out of the freak zoo...i saw midgets, homeless looking people, complete meatheads, a guy with hands attached to his shoulders with laser lights...you name it, i saw it...and i was pretty much sober all night...maybe that was my problem...Tru isn't some place to be sober.

anyway, won't be back to Tru until maybe labor day....i will be hitting up surf club this coming sunday (maybe Merge on saturday night)....i had enough of that place and i am sick of seeing so many people f-ed of doing whatever anywhere...i guess i like a little more class since i have been clubbing now for about 3 years

clubhead--you are right about the music @ Tru--i forgot there was a guest DJ there for awhile. But i have to disagree with Jason E and TJ's music being the same style!! Jason E plays older darker harder house--not so for TJ. Although i did hear some old stuff, he does play newer stuff too that is more progressive, if you would have stuck around till close, you would have been blwon away. LOL, i though i was seeing stuff when i saw the dude w/ no arms--WTF??? I dont know, im just so used to that crowd that nothing shocks me anymore, still love it tho, cant wait to go back for TJ's b-day party. i live in philly so there's nothing like that place for miles.i think your problem was definetly your soberity--i was sober for the first hour that i was there, and i was NOT having much fun. and dude, doesnt matter what club you go to, its not all gonna be glitz and glamor, that just comes with the territory, get real here.

I would have to agree w/ clubhead. Saturday night was the worst display of a zoo/asylum I have ever seen at Studio/Tru. I don't know if someone spiked the water in Atlantic City or if everyone was let out of their cage for the evening, but something was up. I have been going there on and off for the last 3-4 years, and while I usually play social host, I knew hardly anyone Saturday night. Yet everyone felt the need to stand within inches of my face and stare at me with wild eyes, but managed to say nothing before stumbling away. (And I look positively normal, so I know it was not me.) Others must have not noticed I was standing there because they walked right through me as if I were a door. The best part of the night, however, was the token dude by the deck bathroom who could not stand on his feet for more then 10 seconds without his knees buckling who decided to step on my ankle. I am all for fun and crazy partying, but there is a point when people need to just say no (or their friends should say it for them). If I had wanted to see a three-ring circus with a freak side-show, I would have gone to Wildwood.

And while I adore TJ and he manages to play a few good songs a night, have you noticed that he has yet to mix 2 songs together? Hitting stop and then play is what a DJ does at a wedding or a high school mixer, not a nightclub charging between $10-$25 (not that I pay the cover, thank goodness). TJ is a good guy, but do not refer to him as a good DJ, please.

Funny thing was, Casbah was full of just as many weirdos. I think Atlantic City may have to be avoided for a little.

If you have yet to go to Surf Club, check that place out on a Sunday afternoon and you will see what I mean about AC.
