i thought it might have been Thomas Jefferson, and i know ashcroft said it recently, but iv had the audio for over 2 years now

Charleton Heston?

i dont know, i can't find the quote on the net anywhere, i can find the thing about kennedy saying ashcrot is a fruit for saying it, but i cant find out who originaly said it

You mean you want to know the originator of the "well armed citizen" philosophy? I think it was John Locke.

I found it. It is originally from James Madison. Ashcroft was quoting Madison from Madison's essay, "The Federalist #46" of "the Federalist Papers". It was written under the pseudonym Publius.
