What would you recommend for a starter home protection handgun?

I'm considering conseal and carry but a nice loud .40 cal could be effective at home.

A .45 cal 1911 with a sure fire light mount on the bottom with a good hollow point it will drop the biggest baddest attacker with ease

Home defense? Either the judge or a handgrip style 12guage such as a streetsweeper or saiga

Handgun has too much penetrating power and you'd have to worry about collateral

As far as CCW, a cheap comfortable carry would be the springfield xd or xdm .40
