Who owns a Handgun here?

As stated earlier, 12G shotgun. I read a report on "the best home defense weapon". A pump shotgun with collapsable stock and short barrel topped the list. 1) Don't have to be a crack shot to hit something, 2) stops at the wall, won't go thru walls or riccochett causing more danger, 3) Just the sound of the CHU-CHINK when cocking in a round can be enough to deter most bad guys.

I own a Ruger P22, Ruger Mark II 22, Berretta 92F 9MM, S&W 357, and a Ruger Blackhawk 44Mag. Plus a Remmington 870 Express 12 guage set up as above, with extra hunting stock & 28 barrel.

Glock 23 and Kel-Tec P40. The Kel-Tec is garbage, I got it used and would never buy another.

Sorry to hear about the Kel-Tec, they are usually pretty good quality for that price range. I have a lot of guns and it would be tough to pick a favorite, but my Kel-Tec Sub 2000 is near the top of the list. It folds up to around 16 inches, about 30 inches unfolded. It's 40 caliber and is compatible with Glock clips. I bought a 29 round clip made by Scherer and picked up a few 15 round Glock clips, handy since I have a Glock pistol as well. I fired close to 100 rounds as fast as I could shoot and load and it performed like a champ.

I own a Browning High Power 9mm. I have put over 2000 rounds thru it. I use corbon rounds. They are like a hollow point. Alot of knock down power. Will not go thru a person.

Unless of course the point packs with cloth, skin or bone and turns it into a hard ball round. Then it will go right through.

Have had them all, S&W, Ruger,AMT, Browning, Ect. and they are all good but for my money it's got to be a Glock.

12g mosberg persuader 9+1 capacity
Load it with 2-3/4' OO Buckshot.

3" or larger is not recomended as of recoil. Also you dont need that power. 1 shot fromn 2-3/4 00 is said to be as powerfull as around 7-10 , 9mm rapid fire shots!

Revolvers do not jam and you really aren't looking for semi-automatic fire.
I used to believe that until I bought my Taurus 617 .357mag. I shot about 4 rounds and it totally seized up. Trigger wouldn't budge at all. Managed to open the cylinder and it pratically took a sledgehammer to eject the spent casings. Had buddy who owns gunshop send it back to Taurus. Came back and did the same things. My friend had another 617 in stock and I shot it in his indoor range. Same thing! A worker in his shop suggested nickel plated brass cased bullets. Worked just fine!! No where does Taurus say to use only nickel plated brass in their Ti 617. That revolver was going to be one of my CCW's. Now it's just a backup home defense gun.

Stay away from exotic metals. Steel revolvers (especially anything S&W) will function flawlessly.

I love my Colt 1991 and Kahr PM9

Just wondering. I'm looking to purchase a handgun. I used to have a 12g remington which i got rid of when i moved the city last year. MISTAKE!!!

Anyways, this is gonna be for defense. soo i'm lookin' @ .38's. They seem to be the most logical choice for me, since i'm in a populated area, and i wouldn't be worried about the person i shoot getting up. a .38 hollow point would do the job i'm sure.

So what are your thoughts?

anyone that is against guns, i don't wanna hear it.. so don't post please.

thanks

I own alot of differant handguns by differant manufacturers with differant models and calibers. There are alot of great ones out there. For personal defense I can recommend alot. If you really want to put a threat down a .45 caliber model 1911 :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: will definatley do the job. What you have to really look for are the bullets you use. They definately make a differance. Before you go out and make a purchase I would recommend that you first make sure that you are comfortable with the way you hold the gun and how comfortable your hand is wrapped around it. I would also recommend that you go to a gun range and rent a gun for shooting there. I'm sure that you could find a range that provides that kind of service near you. Shoot differant guns and see how it feels. To become profficient you will need to master: 1. your gun stance, 2. your breathing while shooting, 3. your sight allignment, 4. your grip of the gun and 5. the squeeze of the trigger. Guns are a lot of responsibiity and always treat it as if it is loaded. Good luck with your research.

Bro .38 spl is a good round..I have ( 2 ) 38's..Get a S&W j frame..only five shots but its for def..not a shoot out..put good grips on it and shoot the shit out of it so you will be used to it..as far as being accurate..I can keep 3inch groups at 25 yards with my j frame snubby..front sight picture and trigger control..dont snatch it..get mag safe rounds won't over penetrate nasty rounds just make sure the 38 is +p rated..mag safes are hot rounds but it only takes one to the center mass to shut thm down..if you are worried about extra rounds throw a speed loader in ur front pocket..
