who makes a good tactical shotgun?

it's a toss up between a Remington 870 or a Benelli 11707 M4. The m4 is really sweet, but it is almost 3 times the price of the 870 (not that i would pay that much...i can get it at cost )

so, what does everyone think of the two? any other ones i don't know about?

Remi is pump action so that's why it's cheaper. And pumps can use almost any ammo possible. There's almost no cycling issues. The M4 is a great shotgun but is it really worth its price tag ? I dont think so. I knew a guy who had a semi-auto FABARM and couldn't feed it with low recoil slugs (same as the ones used by most PDs). Not saying its junk but depending on the purposes, it might not be the best choice.

If cost is a factor, Mossberg 500 or 590 is a damn good shotgun that won't bankrupt you.

Most people on the web forums swear by the 870 for bang for the buck....
Also lots of aftermarket grips etc and anyone can work on one if needed..
You can get an 870 at walmart cheap for heavens sake..

Second choice as mentioned is the Mossberg..

The Benelli's, Beretta,or other high end or imports are more hunting IMO where you need to carry it all day and it gets dirty etc..

ive seen a benelli nova at Bass Pro Shops for under 300 bucks....that was during a sale though...

I had www.fireflyarms.com convert mine to pistol grip status. 8 rd mags. It kicks ass.
