am thinking of getting one soon. Just looking for some feedback. These two are the ones i'm looking at right now.

If I were to choose from the above two, I would go with the Hitachi because of the 720p capability. Also, it says on the site you posted $2300 I found it for $1500 plus. I'm sure you`re looking around though, right? Please don`t pay $2300.

I have`nt looked around but there are better TV`s out there Im sure. Have you looked at Sony`s. (don`t know the price)

i have a 54 inch AKAI.. yes, i said AKAI.. it was 800 bucks plus at sams club... they have a high def version for 1100.. believe it or not i am SUPER satisfied with my tv to date... plus, at sams the warranty was 80 bucks compared to the 300 plus from best buy/similar... i'm cheap, i have to cut corners where possible....

Gymrat my brother and I bought that exact Hitachi model (51") a couple months ago from Future Shop. You cannot match Hitachi quality and build bro. Here in North America it's all about Sony and those other fancy dancy models because of the looks, but Hitachi is untouchable in Japan. The only other model I'd consider is the Toshiba.

You missed it dude. Future Shop had a special VIP night which I don't think was advertised (or perhaps I'm mistaken). They gave about a $4-500 credit in which you could use it against any purchase. We got our 51" Hitachi for $1900 CAN.

right now we can get that panasonic set for 1999, and future shop will throw in suround sound system and a five disk dvd player. (both of which will just use with the old tv any)

Future Shop is doing a lot of bundling promotional deals now for Christmas of course. If I were you I would wait until Boxing Day. Can you stand crazy long lines?? Seriously bro wait until Boxing Day and you'll save even more.

Mind you we got our tv a couple months ago for a great price which still can't be beat. I believe it was a $500 credit they gave us in which we could purchase whatever we wanted in the store. We asked if we could use the credit towards our big screen and they said yes.

My brother is a super high-tech guy and wanted the best of the best, which is why he got the Hitachi. Panasonic's are fine if you aren't one of those high-tech guys who needs to have the best specs. In Japan Hitachi dominates for a reason, and I should also note that Hitachi supplies many of the parts used in Sony's, Panasonic's, etc.

oops sorry bro. Looks like a good deal then. I say the Hitatchi.

PS don`t expect High def channels without an antenna or High def cable or HD satelite reciever. Just a warning... the picture CAN look worse when viewing standard signals with a high def screen. (as opposed to HD signals on an HD screen.) Nothing to worry about though, just a "look for it/ don`t be surprised" thing.

I like tv but I have no need or space for anything over 40". Right now I have a 32" and I'm about to get a 36" also. I can't see spending $1500+ on a television, especially when I don't even have a house.
