Who Here Definetely Like their Chick to Wear Make Up?

Yes, the made-up eyes are more glamorous. But more glamorous isn't necessarily more beautiful...

Honestly.... I think your eyes are captivating with OR without. :)

Thanks, Kini, but the picture quality got bad once I uploaded it here...I will mail you the original and you'll see what I'm talking about. There's a huge difference! I know it's not just me because I always get compliments on my eyes when I'm wearing make-up but never without. My natural lashes are thin and sparse and my skin tone subdues the blueness of my eyes turning them more of a hazel.

I also think that men in general are naturally better looking than women are. Maybe just like birds and some other animals, many of the females are plainer, maybe it's natures way of attracting less attention so that the women are more likely to be less noticed and care for their young. I know it may seem like a silly annalogy <sp> to some, but I think that way.

Of course there are exceptions...take a look at Ceebs...she's got a picture of her face straight out of the shower and she's got absolutely beautiful skin. She attributes much of it to her diet, but no matter what I ate or drank or anything, there's no way my skin could ever look as lovely as hers. Nightfly seems to wear minimal make-up too and she's got great looking skin! Even when I was as young as they are I never had what I considered naturally good skin. I had an uneven tone to my skin, light scars from breakouts, freckels and beauty marks, large pores, thin eye lashes, just stuff that I never cared for and with some make-up, it all seems to go away...temproarilly, but at least it's a change I can do. A friend of mine is medeterranian...she's got naturally great coloring, thick dark eyelashes, hardly a flaw in her face. She's a year older than me and we both have some wrinkles developing but that hasn't really bothered me...they're like battle scars. LOL Anyway, she can wear no make-up at all and she still looks great. Each person is different.

There's also an art to applying make-up correctly. If it's just globbed on it's gonna look tacky and sometimes even worse than going natural. If it's done right, it can totally transform a woman's appearance. If that's how she feels comfortable and attractive, then why not? None of us were born naturally muscular, but we lift to feel and look a certain way. Same thing goes for women applying make-up, when it's done propperly, it can be a wonderful thing.

LOL I think you're being to hard on yourself, but I realize what you are saying and I don't disagree necessarily.

I was very fortunate in the I got my father's coloring (he is dark) and before I had the girls, I had beautiful color in my face. So much so that guys often thought I was wearing "just a tad" when I had none... but those days are looooooong gone!

I think to many women misunderstand the purpose of makeup. It isn't about "putting on a mask" (unless you are talking dramatic stage makeup) - but should be about enhancing your naturally good attributes while minimizing those that are less desirable.

I have dark circles under my eyes so it makes them look sunken in my head. So when I do bother... I put a little concealer on them, a bit of light color on the lids, a bit of mascara, splash of blush and a natural looking lip color, a gloss, just a little something to give my lips color.

Actually what I believe to be THE MOST IMPORTANT PART of a woman's face is most often either neglected or straightup FUCKED UP -

EYEBROWS!

When I have mine waxed and shaped every few weeks, my girls always ask, "Mami, are you wearing makeup?!" It makes THAT much of a difference!

It is all about perception of what is socially acceptable.

Generally (not saying ALL) men put a higher degree of importance of looks of a woman. Whereas women tend to value security.

Back in the day (and still to this day in many societies) a woman could not survive without the support of a man. A man knew he would end up eventually taking a wife so if he was going to have to look at her for the rest of his days, then it was more desirable for him to have a woman who he found to be physically attractive (amongst her efficiency with household task). So we have been bred to think this way.

Luckily we as women are now afforded the opportunities to SUPPORT OURSELVES so we are putting a lot of men to more unrealistic standards of "beauty" (whateverthefuck beauty is). Why do you think men now spend nearly as much time obsessing over aging and their personal appearance like never before? WOMEN CAN SUPPORT THEMSELVES SO YOU HAD BETTER BE PRETTY TOO THERE FELLA!

This theory of Evolution lacks a natural selection aka survival of the fittest element.

I think the reason men place emphasis on looks is that they are and always been hardwired differently than women.
